It fits our fantasy in the same way that pooping daggers fits Rogue fantasy.
Yes, mounted combat is a paladin thing. But Divine Steed isn’t mounted combat. Divine steed is a horse Paladins poop out for 3 seconds before it disappears.

LMAO. Look man it’s magic, maybe fix the animation then.
Oooo I got it. What if at the end of the duration the paladin leaps off the pony, back flips, and “superhero lands” as the pony “warps” forward at the speed of light. Enemies within 10 yards in front of the horse are stunned for 2 seconds.
Would be neat it being a skill shot that you’d have to both time and aim. Or maybe have it behave like Flying serpent kick and if you press the spell again it cancels and warps the pony out.
If they wanted Divine Steed to fit then it should have been an extended ability where we charge around the field on horseback, or something we can pop on and off.
Still in favor of Divine Steed costing Holy Power, last for 1 second for every HP spent, and then having a really short CD. Have it run at 60% movement if necessary.
I heavily dislike the brief duration horse’s look.
If Blizzard actually cared about mounted Paladin mobility, the Steed would have its own animation and would last an extended period of time, similar to the Prot Paladin Divine Steed with full duration buffs.
If they really, really cared, Divine Steed would be a spectral being that would give a huge boost to speed. (Talking about 200%).
Or even better, make Divine Steed a form, Paladin can’t heal while it’s up, but they can move at mounted speed indefinitely.
Leave the horse if you are so in love with class fantasy. Just make judgement increase our movement speed by 40% for 5 seconds. That’s literally all the class needs and it fits with the class fantasy so well you know like a holy warrior that cannot be stopped. You are being judged by the light, the light cannot be stopped. Nerf Rets damage in half (in PvP) just make them fun to play and give them some God dam somewhat decent mobility like literally every other other classe.
I’ll just say: clone warrior leap? I rather keep the awful pony.
Did you say Long Arm of the Law with Emancipate? I’m in. This would require some other changes though, judgement cd is too long for this to be effective and there’s a dmg component tied to TV.
Divine Steed is a poor substitute for Long Army of the Law.
Well we asked for leap because almost every Paladin npc has one. Even the background paladin npcs have one but yet we couldn’t figure it out. Just saying its kind dumb.
We are a holy WARRIOR. And look at most of the paladin npcs they have a leap. so yes we should have one as well.
No thanks I’ll take Long Arm/Emancipate though.
We aren’t warriors. Warriors are about swinging swords as hard as you can, a brute force class with minimal finesse.
Paladins are the closest thing this game has to the Magus. It could be argued that Death Knights take that role, however they’re more equivocal to spell breakers; they are designed to counter spell casters, regardless of how effectively that’s been implemented.
The paladin wields the light to bolster their defense, empower their offense, and protect ourselves from harmful magic. We wield a sword but that’s more of a focus than the point of our class.
The horse is fine if you want it, paladins throughoutt Warcraft were always depicted as the cavaliers of the alliance, however as it is it does little to realize that effect. Give us a charge on horseback that knocks down people between us and our target, give us a buff that let’s us be the cavalier for a duration, or let us more frequently hop on and off it.
Either way you look at it, if the intent is for Paladins to feel like “paladins” then blizz needs to go back to the drawing board on many aspects of our class.
Paladins are Paladins, they’re literally based on chivalrous knights of the highest order. (Hence Knights of the Silver hand.)
To put it into perspective, Paladins are Holy Knights with such a presence on the battlefield that it affects both allies and enemies.
The closest example of Paladins in classic fiction are heroes like Lancelot, Saint George, and Gallahad.
Ok you can have it. I would prefer to have the Leap that every Paladin npc has.
Yeah, I was trying not to define a word with itself…
I can’t believe they scrapped the leap for this crap.
Divine Steed is about the worst mobility spell in the game. That Turalyon’s Might would’ve been amazing not gonna lie.
Lot of utility, can be used as defensive and offensive, you get exactly at the location you want compared to Divine Steed where you use it and you’re gonna get rooted or slowed on it and it will be useless. Also the problem of ret is being WAY TOO OBVIOUS in about every god damn spell we have. When we’re busting we’re a immense big ‘‘ALERT! ALTER!’’ holy beam. Same thing with Divine Steed, when you see it, because it’s impossible to miss since you’re on a god damn mount, you know you’re gonna get stunned or bursted on since we have to keep it for those moments otherwise it’s gonna be totally wasted, so they react to it instantly.
