Seal of the Templar: While mounted on your Charger, the ranges of Crusader Strike, Hammer of the Righteous, Templar’s Verdict, and Hammer of Justice are increased by 3 yards.
I guess this just means we have increased reach while on Divine Steed or with Crusader Aura up, everything else makes no sense.
That said, I hope they do something about Devo Aura. Every group will want the damage reduction when you will want the increased range.
All in all I’m not too impressed with what I see (could have been worse) but paladins (like monks) don’t seem to be very advanced talentwise.
Makes no sense tying it to Divine Steed, nor Crusader Aura really. But the extra range is certainly nice, on Rebuke too. But yeah absolutely want Final Verdicts full range, though this is only 2 yards lower, still I’d want even those 2 extra yards
Though considering it on Crusader Aura, wouldn’t it be interesting if it gave the extra 3 yards to everyone effected?
Looks stupid to instantly suddenly conjure a horse for 2 seconds in combat
Doesnt last very long, barely more than the global cooldown needed to cast it
Long cooldown
A lot of us never wanted mounted combat to begin with, Steed has an absurdly long cooldown for what it does, it’s on the GCD, and it doesn’t even clear roots/snares on cast. It’s a complete functional downgrade from our old mobility suite during MoP/WoD, and it feels viscerally bad in practice.
I was raiding in Legion and we were fighting the Enigma boss in Nighthold and our main tank would just summon his Kodo mainly cause he was bored. It would just spawn for 4 seconds and then disappear while he was standing completely still.
It broke all sense of immersion and ever since then I’ve hated it.
Since steed was introduced its done nothing to help our mobility.
We went from being a fairly agile melee with long arm of the law, burden of guilt, double freedom and emmancipate to having … steed.
Plus in pvp is useless withut freedom and when you get insta dispelled the spell was made useless. As many paladins have said they should have made it into speed of light and put pursuit of justice somewhere in there.
Thematically is I think its fine, paladins are knights after all and part of that is being Cavalierly. Functionally is really the issue people have with it. As it is, its just doesn’t cut it. The cooldown is too long, the duration too short(unless you have the upgraded conduit Light’s Barding and or the pvp prot only talent Steed of Glory) and its speed is too slow. Its also very easily countered by the simplest snare(unless you have the forementioned prot talent). The another issue is its basically a paladins only mobility. If it was as is plus something like Pursuit of Justice(early MoP version, when it was 40%) and Emancipate. Then it wouldn’t have been an issue.
