Distinct Lack of a Zodiac mount for 2024 Year of the Dragon

So this year, Year of the Dragon, we haven’t gotten a Zodiac mount for the Chinese new year. Coincidence that a good mount theme is skipped? I would have loved to have gotten a Cloud Serpent Dragonriding mount that could be customized with Heavenly, Sha or Thundering effects, colors, and features. It would pair well with Pandaria Remix too. It’s not too late, the year is only half over!

Not from 2024 at all, also lacks the same style/theme as the Dog, Pig, Mouse, Ox, Tiger, or Rabbit mounts previously released. This is the only Animal to be skipped so far.

It’s kinda sad, I was excited to see a dragon with the same style as the others.

Like a water dragon with gold coins and red silk or something

Yes. It is.

No. It doesn’t.

We got 7.

If you just outright ignore reality, then sure. Its the year of the wood dragon and they added a wooden dragon mount. Not sure how much more obvious it could be.

With the MoP ReMix they could have had a MOgu stone style Cloud Serpent mount, and we could have earned the appearances from MoP Remix too. Totally missed a money making opportunity.

Most of the zodiac mounts follow the trait of the year of the animal as well as the fung shei Element the year falls on.

I’m a bit rusty but the elements are stone, iron, fire, water, and wood if i recall.

Lunar New Year mounts release during Lunar New Year. Just like this one did.

Correct. Thus, we got a wooden Chinese dragon.

Thought so, I knew it differentiated from how western philosophy views the elemental forces of nature, I just wasn’t sure which one was excluded and i’m pretty sure it was air.
Which is weird because flying rat.

That’s because you don’t understand the eastern zodiac. There are elemental themes per two years (even is yang and odd is yin) as well as the animals every year.

Dog, Pig - earth
Mouse, Ox - metal
Tiger, Rabbit - water
and the Dragon is wood. The snake will be wood too.
Then after that the next two (Horse, Goat) will be fire themed.

That all said, Squeakers is still a bit of an odd one out since it doesn’t really have a big “metal” theme. Unless jade counts as a metal? I assumed it’d fall under Earth.

Shu-zen also has a more “regular animal” vibe but, even being the first zodiac mount released, it does have noticeably rocky armor.

EDIT: Looking it up, apparently jade can count as Wood, Fire, or Metal depending on its color. The more you know. Squeaker’s jade still seems a bit too green to count as the metal “white jade” though.
