Displayport Problems....My Fix

My rig is a ROG B450F, AMD 2600X, ROG 580 GPU, and a ROG 27" Curved Monitor. Windows 10.
Just built it and all of the parts are brand new. Place holders till Navi and the X570 are available. My first AMD build ever…and I’m eyeballing the new intel chips and Nvidia offerings already…

Problem: When I power up my rig and hop right into wow I lose the signal to my DisplayPort at the character select screen. This only effects the Display Port. The game is running because I could click on stuff and hear music through my…you guessed it…ROG head set…not that you cared…lol…I never had this problem on an intel build…AMD…

My Fix: I downloaded all of the Asus software associated with its part…not the drivers…stuff like Aura Sync and other ROG related crap…sigh its a lot considering…anyhow, when I use Tweak UI before launching wow, the option that kills windows processes before hopping on WoW my monitor works fine without problem. Maybe if you use a different brand of video card you could still use it I am guessing or maybe there is something similar out there.

So, since I am not a Info.Tech. guru, just a guy who can build computers this leads me to believe that the problem so many of us have been encountering is related to windows running something in the background that kills your DisplayPort when you launch WoW…If anyone could throw up some ideas on how I could investigate this further I am willing to try it out to nail down the pesky windows program causing the trouble and maybe help some other WoW players having similar problems by posting the results here if it hasn’t been solved already.

I hope this helps other players with a similar problem. Good luck and see you in game if your monitor is working.

Hey did you ever look more into this? I’m having a similar issue, but I don’t have the ROG stuff. When I launch wow both of my LG monitors turn black and lose signal. I have to restart my computer and then launch wow again and it will usually load fine after that.
