'display only character achiev to others' is gone?

it looks like the option to ‘display only character achievements to others’ has been removed from the options menu (both retail and Classic Cata). For the toons created before Undermine that had checked that option, it is still true, but for new toons there seems to be no way to enable it (at least I couldn’t find any way to do it).

It doesn’t seem to be true for characters created before the Undermine patch, either. Rather, I did some checking on some alts that I have, on the armory. It seems like as soon as you log on to that character, that option is forcibly removed.

I had a little played alt on a different realm. On the armory, it said one thing. I logged in to that character, got the Undermine splash screen, then logged out. Sure enough, they suddenly got thousands of achievement points.

I am slightly concerned about this. Generally speaking, it’s good form to communicate before one removes any privacy option.

I am optimistic that this is a bug, in part because the website still lists ‘Display only character achievements to others’, and that’s in a Blizzard support article.

So, yeah. I hope it’s a bug.

Doesn’t look to be a bug, Warcraft wiki shows it as an unannounced change.

You might try posting about it over in General or Achievements forum with feedback that you don’t like the change.

I personally don’t care about the achievements but I’m a little surprised you can’t hide characters from sites like Raider.io if you wanted to.

There is no reason to reduce privacy. Revert this change immediately.

QA doesn’t deal with feedback. You can submit a suggestion in game or through the community forums. Best place for this would be General Discussion. Though I will note there’s already been 2 threads made already and neither really got any player traffic

You can still hide characters from sites, but you have to go to your battlenet account (web site) rather than in-game. Under “Privacy & Communication” there is a “Game Data And Profile Privacy” section where you can turn “Share Game Data” on/off.

In fact, the “Display Only Character Achievements” setting never really hid your characters from sites. Those characters could still be seen, just without account-wide achievements, but things like mounts and pets and toys were all still shown.

This restricts all data for all sites. It’s a big hammer, unfortunately.

This needs to be added back and expanded to other categories like collections to prevents stalking.

I need this back! or at least a “make profile private” option. I’ve been harassed by a lot of guys on my server who, when they see the achievements, know it’s me. Harassment just for being a woman. I need it. I don’t feel safe playing without it anymore because they take it outside of the game and into WoW groups, and I don’t plan on playing until we get that privacy option back. After all, there are other options.

I hope you’re reporting them.

You can’t report people for harassment until it crosses a line. People who do this typically know where that line is and won’t cross it but the effect on the victim is the same. You can stand on them, follow them around, drop toys, message their friends, etc… I’m sure you can come up with more. In fact, there are many toys that will spam emotes and chat messages and sounds that cannot be /ignored and GMs won’t lift a finger.

What I’m describing is from personal experience.

Yes, and that doesn’t stop them from making trial accounts, I’ve experienced everything you mentioned, even once a friend mentioned to me that group of trial account characters were stalking me, he invited me to group without approaching me (he’s a demon hunter) he used his spectral sight and while he was sharing his screen with me on discord I saw that there was a group of like 5 - 10 rogues covering my surroundings, it was terrifying
