Hey all, I’m starting to think maybe this isn’t a very widely chosen talent or something, but Displacement for Mages hasn’t worked for me since the PTR. It still currently doesn’t function correctly, as after I blink I’m not able to use it at any point.
I am having the same issue. When I blink it stays greyed out no matter where I am.

I initially assumed my issue was because the talent explicitly mentions “Blink” and I took Shimmer, but the expected functionality would be as it was in Legion. This is the only post I have seen on the matter and hope it gets a bit more attention.

I respect and didn’t take shimmer and it is still broke for me

I also noticed blinking/shimmering doesn’t leave behind the orb it did back in Legion. Maybe Blink itself is the problem, and it isn’t generating a point for Displacement to use.
So yours still isn’t working? We cant be the only two, but I did talk to someone’s that they said was working.

Displacement is greyed out on my bar and I get the message “You can’t do that yet” after I blink/shimmer and attempt to use it.
Same. I have no addons enabled right now either, so I know that’s not the issue.
Likewise friends, I have no addons running and everything else seems to be working fine. I am a little irate because I reported this bug every week in PTR and it seems to still not be getting addressed.
Or maybe we’re just the 3 worst mages in WoW
Not working for me either. Just picked it up as I was reworking the new tree, and no joy. I also switched out of shimmer thinking that might be it, but still no joy. Hopefully this will be resolved soon!
Maybe we’re the slow ones…

I have been having this problem and after reading here I was inspired to try some things, when I unlearned the arcane momentum technique now displacement works, but I like being able to blink backwards. Maybe that is your problem too? If you don’t remember it is the thing the mage trainers will let you turn on and off to switch how your blink works.

Oh no I hope not! If that’s the case I might have to drop it unfortunately 
blinking backwards is too handy.
Still some confirmation would be nice, so we’re all blinking aimlessly and confusing people.
Verified. I had arcane momentum, couldn’t use displacement. Unlearned AM, displacement worked fine. Relearned AM, once again could not use displacement.
So this is more of a problem with Arcane Momentum working with Displacement then it is a problem with displacement itself.
Would really like some confirmation from blizzard if its functioning as intended

Trying to keep responding to bump this because I agree. If it’s a bug I’ll wait it out, if it’s supposed to be a choice I think it needs to be made clear
Still bugged for me too. It just stays grey and unable to cast it even when i cast shimmer.

Yeah taking off arcane momentum allowed displacement to work. Thanks for that advice!
Definitely something going on with that skill, hope they fix it soon.
Bug isn’t fully fixed yet
so supposedly in the latest hotfix, they “fixed” it to work with arcane momentum…which I have.
the “displacement” ability is castable after blinking but nothing actually happens to your character and the buff still remains.
so the bug isn’t completely fixed yet…
