It works now! Crest discount was applied as expected. Thank you!
ORIGINAL POST:
Logged in to see that Nasz’uro can finally be upgraded. It turns out, when I upgraded my 2-handed weapon to 515, this counts for nothing. I expected that upgrading a 2-handed staff should surely cover the crests for the main hand slot. Nope. I need 60 more Wyrm Crests to bring Nasz’uro to 515, and I only have 45 left for this week.
Disgusting. The lack of communication, the lack of clarity, the dysfunctional execution.
UPDATE 1:
I’m talking about this discount:
“For a given slot, once you obtain gear of a certain item level, either from upgrading or from drops, all future upgrades won’t cost any Crests to be upgraded. This discount is NOT account-wide. Rings, trinkets, and one-handed weapons require two of a certain item level to unlock the discount.”
The part about “one-handed weapons require two of a certain item level” makes sense if it applies to dual wielding, e.g. 2 daggers, 2 one-handed swords. It makes no sense for caster main hand weapon.
To be sure, I crafted a Crackling Codex of the Isles, item level 525, and equipped it. So now I have:
515 two-handed caster staff
525 caster off-hand
… and there’s still no Crest discount for Nasz’uro. Can’t upgrade it further than 512 this week, and have to pay Wyrm Crests I already paid for the 2-hander.
Is there anything people won’t complain about? I remember a time when everything in a game was cryptic and you had to figure it out for yourself or talk to other people who had already done it.
Oh yes, because nothing screams ‘ideal forum environment’ like getting rid of the folks who actually keep the discussions lively and engaging. Who needs active contributors when we can have tumbleweeds rolling through instead, right?
It’s weird that so many things were fumbled this time around, and it’s not intuitive that would have been the case. I agree with you OP, but I don’t think it’s going to be a huge throughput change regardless. The effect is what you really want. You’ll end up in a position of excess crests soon enough. The limit bump per week this season is substantial enough to not make things like this too backbreaking.
I appreciate them bumping the thread, but they don’t exactly keep the discussion flowing. They mostly complain that something was posted in the first place. The poster might be someone who has found no reason to complain in years. Now this person has a legitimate complaint, voices it on the forums, and is met with “All you do is complain!”
When was that? Vanilla Beta? Because for as long as I’ve been in the game there has been something somewhere to help players out. Whether that was Angling Al’s old fish website, or the wowhead predecessor Thottbot. Then of course there has always been MMOChampion
