It’s sad how many Americans have no idea about taxes and the economy and are defending useless CEO’s like Bobby. It’s silly, but I guess that’s what you get with such a bad education system.

Yeah no, he’s actually doing the exact job he was hired to do, and he’s doing a good job of it too. Otherwise the board would have already elected to remove him.
For real, do any of you think that Activision-Blizzard’s board would let Bobby stay on as CEO if he wasn’t doing a good job? Nah, absolutely not. They’d have removed him and replaced him with someone better. You may not like it, but Bobby has been in this business (as CEO) since 1991, he knows what he’s doing.

These people would have been let go regardless of the CEO. It’s just business. It sucks that it happened to a company we care about.
CEOs are routinely disproportionately rewarded compared to the front-line workers. It doesn’t always make sense, but it is very common.
That is exactly what CEOs are used for.
And if that happen, people complain about lack of hot fixes and class balance now…
I have belonged to 3 unions and all they tend to do is to protect the lazy sob’s
Granted it sucks getting layed off been there done that… But They did get 90 days severance pay and a full year of health insurance…hopefully the laid-off will find a job fast

Businesses used to need to show that they would benefit the community they serve in some way before receiving incorporation. It is ONLY due to their own lobbying over the last few decades and those who are incentivized by them to write the rules in their favor, that have eroded any responsibility that companies once had.
We should never accept it as ethical that a company can benefit from the public dime (freeways, infrastructure, internet, media, tax breaks, and, of course, labor), but have zero responsibility back to that public that made it possible for them to profit. It is okay to point out that ‘it is this way’, but it is also important to say, “hey, we don’t like this and we should do something about it”.

C.E.O.s in the U.S. are more like a pet for large U.S. companies. Something they think they need for investors. Short term decisions are encouraged (same as for bankers), with no respect for any possible negative effects. In fact many, if not most C.E.O’s aren’t doing anything useful for their companies at all.
Of course there are exceptions. Like the Mondragon Corporation from Spain, but their concept is also rather unique.
