How do people find these things out?
Datamining and simming, for the most part.
Just by playing the game and seeing something different that wasnt mentioned
When Blizzard uploads hotfixes it goes to a CDN and people have websites setup that read what changes are being deployed that aren’t encrypted. They can also compare old vs new files and check for differences. For models and stuff people can open up the game files and look at the stuff. This is usually only for client side stuff.
So the TLDR is that they use software to compare the before and after changes to the WoW files and they can snip out the specifics.
