Discoverability is still lacking

We really need searchable / shareable addresses in WoW Housing.

Would love to be able to hop to any public neighbourhood and see some cool builds alone, without joining the same 20 people in LFG and therefore their same few neighbourhoods.

Then if i find a cool neighbourhood, be able to search for it in the house finder and visit it again.

Could also share our own address with other people in game / on websites… and have people visit any time of day or night if our permissions are set to always open to everyone.

I definitely agree! I have heard Blizzard has some things in the works to help with this, though I haven’t seen anything announced for 12.1.

I have been seeing more names I don’t recognize in housing tours lately, which gives me hope that word is spreading and interest is growing.

It was Ion who said it, there should be some way to advertise your house if you want it to be visited. Or maybe a list of featured houses? But this is Ion who said that guilds need a lot more love and interest from the designers and that was five years ago. So, well then, I hate to sound TOO cynical, but I’ll really like it when I see it.

I would love to be able to go to specific neighborhoods/houses. I regularly bounce around random neighborhoods just looking at what people have made. I’m always thrilled and sad when I find an interesting house because I know I probably won’t ever be able to visit it again. I keep a list of the houses that I’ve liked in case I’m ever able to make it back to that neighborhood again. It’s especially disappointing when I come across one that I can tell they’re working towards something interesting but I’ll likely never be able to see the finished version.

There needs to be a listing of public and open neighborhoods that can be accessed at least next to the fixed portals to Housing, that includes a map showing all the available plots, owned “open” plots, and “open” houses.

And at any portal to Housing, there needs to be a dropdown that comes up allowing the player to select which of their neighborhoods they go to, instead of defaulting. And maybe include a “friends and guild” option in that dropdown too.

I’d love to just be able to visit a new neighborhood and look around. It’s funny how the “world” of warcraft still feels so closed sometimes, a nice irony that amuses me

This is the same man that said “we’ve been hard at work listening to feedback” in 2019 and yet, it’s taken half a year to address any bugs just in housing only when people have been saying they’ve been reporting the same bugs since alpha/beta.

I’ve said for years, until it’s in patch notes, I don’t believe anything they say.

LoTRO has a great system. You go to the neighborhood entrance and it lists the neighborhoods. You can then choose which one you want to visit when you go through the portal. This makes it simple and in that game there are neighborhood quests like Trick or Treat, where some neighborhoods will announce they set up the treats so that folks can do the quest, rather than randomly trolling neighborhoods for activity.

If you know cool house X is in neighborhood Y, or even friend’s house is in neighborhood W, one should be able to pick a neighborhood specifically.

Amen, Sister! Amen!

And, this goes triple for anything Ion ever says. Anything. I don’t believe a word out of that man’s mouth.

Yes, I would like to be able to visit someone WITHOUT HAVING TO BE BNET FRIENDS! I would like to just share my address and have that be all that is needed.

It would be cool to have an Animal Crossing dream feature. You can enter a dream or whatever and will be sent to a random public set house.

When I come across a house I love or really like, I request the builder’s BNet tag. That way I can return quickly anytime I wish to. I also make notes on the BNet friend’s profile (BattleNet app) about each house I fall in love with. Only 128 char, but just enough to jog my memory.

It would really be fun to have this portal as a piece of decor in our homes, since we’re only going to places within the neighborhood, and when you’re done, you could use your neighbor’s portal and choose “Home”.

Yeah this isn’t reliable either. People are finicky, they could remove you from bnet at any time and you will lose access again.

Recently had a large example of this. A wow housing community leader was running their own charter hood, spent like 2 months trying to pull me into their community. I eventually did (along with others) and left my shard with my mrs and 2 friends. Less than 2 weeks later one time i login to an empty neighbourhood, and it says “talk to ur neighbourhood npc to start an endeavour” - I then realise what happened.

Throughout the day I joined a few house LFG tours and saw a couple of other people from the same community with the same experience. Apparently the leader had a meltdown over people not rebuilding enough new things all the time to make it worth running. Like we were just assumed to delete and rebuild new toys for the leader all day or something (were never told to). Anyway after confirming with 3 other people the same experience I was luckily able to at least get my old Alliance plot 17 back in same neighbourhood, but was unable to get my old horde one back.

Not interested in bnet friends or communities now. Just want proper address searching and sharing.

I feel like expanding the house finder would be a simple solution. Yes, it’s primary function is to show you neighborhoods with open plots. But adding a button next to the refresh that says “show other neighborhoods” and loads another selection would be nice. Just have it cycle through neighborhoods alphabetically every time you press.

Also expand the search bar to neighborhoods. Now you can discover randomly (well alphabetically) and then intentionally visit neighborhoods you found, even if you only remember part of the name.

Doußlebrutal - I understand and empathize with your frustration and disappointment. I’ve not had that experience, and I hope I never do, but you’ve made an excellent point. – Amandlaa

You believe the patch notes? I believe it when it’s actually observable in game.

LOL yeah the amount of times they “hotfix” something and it’s still broken…
