Hello yall. I am thinking of moving two of my WoW toons not currently known to WRA to a separate Discord. However, it will not be Steam connected. Do guilds generally require a Discord to be Steam connected?
You’re talking about your personal Discord account being connected to various things like Bnet, Facebook, etc.? No, no one requires that and if they do, it’s probably not a guild you should join. It’s none of anyone’s business what your user name is on anything you don’t want to share. Includes Steam.
I dont know why/how you responded to this question, because as far as I can discern its… nonsense.
Idk - I just know you can connect your Discord account to Steam, Facebook, Spotify, etc. You don’t have to, but you can. I’ve never heard of a guild requiring the connection to anything, but that doesn’t mean there’s not somebody out with a requirement.
Paints Lluagor and runs away.
If a WoW guild requires your Discord and Steam to be connected, that should be a hard no.
It’s one thing if it’s some kind of official eSports/league thing but for what we do here on WrA and most other WoW servers, set up your Discord however it works for you and come hang.
Requiring discord connections to outside social media and other connections sounds sus and staulkerish runaway.
Haha no that’s creepy don’t join guilds or interact w/ anyone that requires that much information about you.
Yeah, gonna echo most people here and say “DO NOT.”
If a Guild is requiring you to hang all your hats on their walls, that’s a red flag. Them knowing when, and what, you’re playing on a separate platform or insisting you have to link all your gaming to something that their moderators can monitor, is a horrifying level of invasive.
For Steam itself:
- Right-click on a game in the Steam Client
- Select Manage
- Select Mark as Private
This should stop Steam itself broadcasting what you are playing.
For Discord :
- You can turn off the Discord overlay for all games by going into settings and toggling it off under “Game Overlay.”
