Discord causing issues with 30 series Nvidia cards

I have been having stuttering issues lately. Hoping this is the cause. The latest update on Discord has dropped the clocks on my 3080 significantly.

You can check this yourself by launching HWinfo with open Discord and launching game. Look at effective clocks (however both effective and instant clocks will drop)

Solution is to use Nvidia Profile Inspector to restrict Discord from accessing CUDA P2 states:

You need to download nvidiaprofileinspector on github. In there, type “discord” in the search bar so you have access to the the app’s drivers settings. There, you need to find the line CUDA - Force P2 State and set it to Off. Click on Apply changes on the top-right corner, close nvidia profile inspector, restart Discord and you should be good to go !!

NVIDIA has an official Knowledge Base article about this:

Issue:

After a recent update to the Discord app, users may notice that the graphics card memory clocks will not reach full speeds when launching a game.

Solution:

A fix will be pushed to users PCs via an over the air update at a later date. If you do not receive the update or if you wish to apply the fix manually, you may do so by following the instructions below.
