Yeah it’s probably easier but I just honestly hate voice chat. It’s either super quiet or extremely loud, there’s like 15 people talking over each other, there’s the background noise, my speech impediment and social anxiety make it extremely hard to use, etc
Discord obviously has its advantages in group content where you can’t quickly and easily type to each other. But I wish in game chat was more utilized.
Sure, discord has text chat as well, but having to use a third party app to text chat is also annoying.

Text chat is just not viable in any serious content for most people. It takes much longer to get your point across, takes more attention away from the fight for the reader and the person writing and is very easy to miss. Then if you have more than a few people trying to type, good luck seeing important information. You also have people like me who type slow and can’t really type without standing still for a few seconds when I need to call something out, like a rogue attacking my in a RBG while I guard a flag or when I need to move out of fire in raids.
Typing works just fine in more casual content or the less intense stuff. You often don’t even need to talk yourself when you get in someone’s discord for content. I have social anxiety and other problems too and just stay quiet unless I’m with my friends or there are mechanics they need you to speak up like the Mekkatorque fight in BFA.
A pro tip, you can lower the volume of people in discord so if someone is too loud or quiet you can adjust things.
