I am attempting quest completion and in the second scenario when you are supposed to be sent to stormwind to aid Uther, my game loads for brief moment and then disconnects. When I re log, I am falling from VERY high in arathi highlands at roughly 87/67 (it takes roughly 2 minutes to hit the ground). I tried a 2nd time as a fluke, and a third time with all of my addons disabled.
I know it is old expansion content, but I just came back to the game and I am catching up on quests and achievements. Would love a fix

Same issue here. Opened a ticket, waiting to hear back.
I’ve got the same issue on my Worgan Warrior. Hopefully they can fix issue soon. I’d like to move forward on my quest line.
Same, broken. Guess I abandon the character until it’s fixed (not this one). Old expansion content or not, having stuff like this broken in the game is unprofessional.
EDIT: It finally worked. I would say I found a workaround, but I don’t think I did, I just think it has a chance of working. What happens is, if it bugs out, it flags you for PVP (even with war mode off), and disconnects you. If you then try to enter the memory at any time while you’re still flagged for PVP, it will automatically disconnect you again and repeat the process. I waited for my PVP flag to go away and tried again and it worked this time.
So this bug definitely has something to do with being PVP flagged. I didn’t have any quests in Stormwind, and it’s not a rogue (it is an alliance character though).
Thanks for this - I tried this with my 69 death knight without being PVP - dc’d me and turned me PVP - still doesn’t work as I fall ever so slowly back to my death lol… sigh

Just wait for your PVP flag to drop, and try again. It will eventually work. It only bugged out on me once so maybe I got lucky.
same here, for what it’s worth though I had a really interesting experience with this bug. When I started falling above arathi highlands I was in demon hunter so I kept fel rushing forward over and over during the fall until I landed an entire zone away thus avoiding the pvp flag. The quest was still marked but the new location was stormwind, so I ported there and walked into the chapel. Right as I got to the quest marker I transformed into Uther… and then the door locked in front of me. So now i’m Uther, stuck in the chapel on the wrong side of the instance door lol. When I walked away from the immediate area of the door, it reset me back to the place where the quest is given out and immediately disconnected me again upon reentering the dream.

After some time I tried to do the quest again as I had heard nothing about a fix and wanted to test the waters. This time I ended up in front of Arthas but couldn’t interact with him. This really blows. I hope they fix this thing soon so I can advance on the quest line.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this earlier. Before clicking on the crystal to enter the vision with Arthas I made sure I wasn’t flagged PVP and then I disabled all of my addons to then reload UI. When I clicked on the crystal this time it worked like it was supposed to. Since the Dragon Flight expansion it seems Blizzard is really making it a pain to use addons because they want you to sole use their software despite your preferences and desire to customize gameplay to your likes. I hope this helps and I doubt things will get less buggy with addons enabled.
Did not work for me. I was not flagged PVP, disabled all addons, and War Mode was turned off. I was still disconnected and ended up floating above Arathi Highlands. I hope they fix this soon.

Try this fix: do the Zerath Mortis campaign until Uther appears in Haven, then try He Was My Student. I was able to complete it then.

Tried that and didn’t make a difference for me
It worked for me today after nearly 10 times falling/abandoning, here’s what I did: Abandoned the quest, fixed my gear in Oribos, Abandoned all PVP Quests, all Legacy Quests I had from that Region, Made Sure my PVP was Disabled, Reset All Instances, Disabled All Addons/Reload UI… then I Accepted the quest again, went in the memory… and it worked!

Confirming this is still an issue; submitted a bug report but otherwise will try coming back later.
Confirming that this is still a bug. Experienced this today.
Sad to say that this is still an issue. I tried every suggestion found online from other players (disable addons, wait for PvP to wear off, etc.), and Blizzard (talk to Zidormi, etc.) and still nothing.
It is a bit disappointing seeing that Blizzard is aware that so many people have had the same issue with this quest for a considerable time. There have been multiple reports, but this remains unresolved. The best you can get is “We are aware of the issue”…or “We’re currently investigating the issue…”, even opening a ticket nowadays is difficult.

Had to abandon while falling, reaccept quest, abandon while falling, reaccept quest probably 20 times until it finally worked.
Ok, finally I managed to complete the quest. The way it worked for me was to abandon all the quests I had in my quest log (pain I know), make sure I have war mode off and my pvp flag is inactive, talk to Zidormi in Arathi to bring me to the present time and deactivate all of my addons. I hope this may help others who may face the same issue.
I also hope Blizzard starts appreciating its supporters and being more attentive to issues like that.
Still a thing. Falling to my death for the 2nd time as we speak.
