Disconnects randomly in town

I have an odd Issue. I get DC’D alot when just sitting in town talking to people or afking for under 5 minutes.
If am questing or in a raid never happens. Its really odd not sure how to troubleshoot.
I just redid my addons and deleted a ton of them as well to see if they were causing it.
Any logs or anything I can look at to see why. My wife on the other side of the room never has the issue so its something odd with my toon / PC or something else. (Both hardwired). I also never get kicked off discord or anything else either and I can log directly back into the game instantly.
Hard to troubleshoot since its random as well.

Also ran the repair tool and deleted my wtf / interface / cache folder and Redid everything one by one. Had no issues for while before and after the addons then BOOM got DC’D again. Just cant pinpoint what’s happening

Hey Doominitus! I appreciate the details you’ve provided here, and I’m sorry to hear of this persistent and nevertheless annoying disconnect issue. Since you and your wife are both hardwired via Ethernet (I assume to the same router/modem), this indicates that the underlying problem is isolated to something specific to your computer or game client. Considering you’ve already tried a UI Reset and Scan & repair, I suspect a problem associated with the Windows installation. Many user-specific problems related to your installation of Windows can be resolved by creating a new administrator account, logging into it, and trying the game there.

If the same problem occurs on the new administrator account, let’s go ahead and have you run a WinMTR network test so that we can further investigate any potential network-related problems. Here are the instructions:

  1. Download the tool from this page
  2. Enter the IP 24.105.30.129 into the “host” field.
  3. Start the test and play the game for at least 15 minutes. Ensure the problem happens while the winMTR tool is running.
  4. After recording the problem data, click “export text” and save the winMTR file in an easy to find location.
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the winMTR. It’ll look like this:

I ran a WinMTR before I had no drop packets or anything. (Trying to get this today)

So i got DC’D just now… That one dropped packet was from awhile ago tho and I didnt DC.

On the bright side its been a lot better today

Any type of logging I can do as well? Everything else is working fine … This is driving me nuts… I don’t want to have to reinstall windows for this issue.

I found this old thread and its basically the same thing that is happening to me.

Doominitus,

Everything in your tests looks okay, to be frank. It’s possible we’re looking at a problem with network caches. Try unplugging your router/modem for about 5 minutes and reset your PC. That’ll clear those caches in case there’s some bad data being fed to your machine. I’d also update your network drivers since it’s unique to your PC. May just be an outdated driver or something of that nature.

Other than that, you mentioned that you were having a decent time after re adding your addons but then it came back. Do you run any addon managers like twitch? If so, try temporarily uninstalling them and reset your UI again. If it works this way, play like that for a few days and see if it only comes back upon adding your addons. If it does, that may indicate one of the addons has a compatibility issue. You’d need to reinstall them one by one until you find the culprit, then report it to the addon developer.

I did all this already and same issue. Its only when I am typing to people or have the guild window open.
It’s the same issue as in the link I posted. Its really annoying and frustrating.

Hey, Doominitus! With the mention of the guild WIndow, I’m wondering if it’s related to this topic here.

If you don’t open up the guild window at all does it still disconnect when typing to others? I see that you’re the guild master of a fairly populated guild. Does this happen on other characters with no guild or lower rank in a guild?

Happening on most of my toons yes.
I can try to keep the guild tab closed. Oddly enough today it has been pretty good today.
Now I am sure I will get DC’D a ton lol

And just got DC’D while I typed this … on my mage while I Took a screenshot to show a friend your response. (Used the snip & sketch in windows 10

Thanks for the details on the issue, Doominitus! With the connection tests and guild screen situation not showing clear issues, could you contact our Technical Support team directly to look into this issue further with you?

How would I do this since they want screenshots and stuff… Its random cant make it happen whenever I want… its happening alot today but it is what it is I guess I have to deal with it sadly.
This is new as well never use to happen till recently don’t know when it started.

Doominitus,

You don’t have to add screenshots to submit a ticket if you don’t want to. You can use this link to submit a tech ticket and instead get system files.
