Disconnecting VERY Frequently

I recently returned to wow and since my return, I have been plagued with disconnects, they always happen on my first log in, and then randomly during play, but are more likely to happen if I have to go through a load screen. I don’t have issues with Diablo 3 or HotS, however. I currently play on Area 52, but the issue happens no matter if I’m on an east or west coast server, and even happens on the beta and ptr. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Nalafae,

Have you tried any of the WoW disconnection troubleshooting steps yet? If not I’d recommend going through those first.

If you’re using a wireless connection, try switching to wired.

Of course if the disconnections continue feel free to reply back and include a WinMTR test so we can take a look.

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Right-click on the downloaded .zip folder and select “Extract All”, to extract the files to a new folder.
  3. Open the new folder that was created, then open the WinMTR_x64 folder.
  4. Right-click on the WinMTR application and select “Run as administrator”.
  5. Type the IP address 24.105.62.129 in the “Host” field.
  6. Click on “Start” and then launch the game. Allow the test to run for at least 10 minutes. Click on “Stop” when you’re done playing after you have experienced the latency or connection issue.
  7. Click on “Copy Text to Clipboard”, paste the results here, then highlight everything and hit the </> button in the posting section so it will allow links.

Okay so I did a test for 20ish minutes, I had one disconnect moving between zuldazar and orgrimmar. I never play wow from a wifi connection so this test is done hardwired into the router.

Posting for visibility, any idea what the issue might be so I can try and fix it?

Hey again,

Sorry for missing your reply. The WinMTR results actually look pretty good and stable, so nothing there that would be causing you disconnects.

I’m thinking the disconnects could be caused by more of a local system issue since the connection test looks fine. We would want to get your system files (DXDIAG and MSINFO) from you, so it would be easier to get those if you’d like to open a ticket.

Feel free to use this direct link to open the ticket and include a link to this thread as well in the description.

Alright I will try that. Thanks for the help so far!
