I’m having some really big issues with disconnecting from WoW but only when I’m in a Raid or Dungeon group. Those are the only times I constantly lagg out and get the so called ‘Disconnect Bug’.
These are the steps I have taken to try to fix the problem. I’ve rebooted my pc. I’ve rebooted my modem. I’ve flushed the DNS. I’ve updated Windows and my Graphics card. I’ve updated my addons, I’ve turned them all off except for DBM and Weak Auras, I’ve reset / Reinstalled Wow. I’ve reset my IU, (I am using the standard wow IU) I’ve brought my system graphics down to level 6.
I cannot test wow out on another pc and I cannot hardline my internet connection. Can you please help me? This is getting so aggravating!!
It would seem the world servers are having some…issues. It doesn’t matter what zone I try to zone into, it disconnects me at the loading screen. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the weekly reset stampede in Korthia and Mor’geth world boss pulls are responsible for this. Something really needs to be done to beef up the Maw/Korthia sharding.
On it’s face this has the looks of a UI issue Kirapandora. You are testing on the default UI so should rule all that out.
Can you run a WinMTR test. We can see if anything shows up there:
The instructions are on this Blizzard Support page:
Once you have the tool open enter the IP number for the server group you play on in the WinMTR box then hit start.
137.221.105.2 (West Coast)
24.105.62.129 (Central - Chicago)
103.4.115.248 (Oceania)
(only the number - include periods)
Leave it run until you hit a disconnect. Then use the tool button that copies Text to your clipboard. Paste that on your thread here.
*You may need to alter or remove any URL addresses to paste on forum. You could also place the test results in a code block:
Open chat box - paste test then right click - “select all”. Should highlight everything. Then press the preformatted text button along top of chat box. Looks like this </>.
Still trying to get it to happen when I’ve got the Winmtr running. Managed to raid last wednesday without it happening, until of course, after we’d finished and I turned the winmtr off and I was just doing dailies. tried a few pvp battle grounds later this week and of course the disconnects happened again. So I just tried a bg, had the winmtr on, and it didn’t disconnect me . It’s so frustratingly random.
Okay It wouldn’t let me reply to my original thread because I’d not had an answer back when I’d replied to some one else. ( I understand it’s to prevent spam but dang man. )

These tests are so long that it’s saturating the data beyond usefulness. Please only run the test for 5-10minutes, and try to capture the issue in the test.
This one is just showing that the local node has a high occasional latency of 523ms.
The new WinMTR is showing data loss happening between the PC and modem (10.0.0.1). 10537 packets sent but only 10475 received, and worst latency spikes of 523ms to the modem.
This could indicate an issue with the modem device itself, or it could be due to wifi interference since you mentioned you can’t plug into the modem directly with a cable. If the modem supports dual band wifi (both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi) try connecting to the one not currently in use if it’s available. Otherwise you may want to contact the ISP to see if they can upgrade you to a new modem in case this one is starting to malfunction.
There could be other issues causing problems with the wifi in the area, but troubleshooting that is a bit beyond what we can support on the forums.
I’ll try getting a new modem. Comcast is notorious for having crappy modems and we’ve had to swap them out for one reason or another at least twice a year. Thanks!
Had to change ‘characters’ so I could reply to this thread again, didn’t want to make a new post.
Okay got a new modem, but it seems I still am having issues with groups and disconnects. I was online and fine and then tried to use the group finder and that’s when the disconnects started happening. I didn’t turn off my addons before trying to join so that may be the issue.
How long should I run this exactly? The directions said ‘until I hit a disconnect’. My disconnects are so random. I can be fine for hours and then hit the issues, and it’s happened when I’ve been in groups and when I’m not in groups now. So when I ran it before it was going for so long, folks said it wasn’t helpful because it was too long of a sample.
