Hi,
Ever since pre-patch, I have consistently been unable to launch the game on first attempt, or change servers reliably. Every time I do, I immediately get kicked back to login with “Disconnected from Server. (WOW51099319)”
If I Log In again, I have a 30% chance for it to correctly log me in, or else it Disconnects again and the cycle repeats. Same thing happens if I change servers – it disconnects, throws me back to Log In, and keeps me on the OLD server. So I need to keep logging in, changing servers, and hoping it works. That usually takes 10+ minutes of attempts. Sometimes I am never able to actually switch servers (I just give up after 10 minutes of trying – I can log into Tichondrius, but cannot switch to Alterac Mountains, or vice versa).
It is not my Internet – I have tried it in two different houses, same problem.
What else I have tried:
- Release IP, Flush DNS
- Reset UI, Addons (renamed WTF, Cache, Interface)
- Reset Network
- Updated Drivers
- Closing all applications
- Restarting
Anyone know a solution to this problem? I can still play the game, but it takes like 5-10 minutes of login attempts before I actually get in.

Tracert: ~Removed~
Thanks.
Hi Snugglehugs
Took a look at all your Pastebins. Nothing stands out. Have you tried running the games Scan/Repair tool. If not give that a try:
*First run the Battle.net Launcher in Administrator mode - close Launcher. Restart computer to stop all Blizzard processes. Right click the Battlenet desktop icon - select “Run as Administrator” - Then run the Tool.
Tool is found on the Battle.net Launcher. Look for “Options” - directly below the Wow-BfA emblem. The tool is there.
Takes around 5-10 minutes to run.
Let’s take a look at a WinMTR test:
The instructions are on this Blizzard Support page:
Once you have the tool open enter the IP number for the server group you play on in the WinMTR box then hit start.
137.221.105.2 (West Coast)
24.105.62.129 (Central - Chicago)
(only the number - include periods)
Leave it run while you fight to get on the game then for a few minutes afterwardss. Then use the button that copies Text to your clipboard. Paste that on your thread here.
*You may need to alter or remove any URL addresses to paste on forum. You could also place the test results in a code block:
Open chat box - paste test then right click - “select all”. Should highlight everything. Then press the preformatted text button along top of chat box. Looks like this </>.
Hi there Tratt,

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider
During this WinMTR, I had about 10-15 disconnects before I was able to log in and change to the Tichondrius server from Alterac Mountains. It took 2 tries to log in the first time, and then the remaining ~10 to log in and successfully change realms.
The Blizz support guide said to run both IPs, so I also ran the US Chicago WinMTR:

Pretty much the same thing with this one. Login failed the first time, then I tried to switch server for 2-3 minutes before giving up. I logged in on Tichondrius with WinMTR still running, did a Headless Horseman run quickly, and stopped it.
We see a good deal of packet loss on the home network. It doesn’t seem to carry on down the line. Still a concern along with the lack of other readings there. How do you connect - describe your home network as best you can.
Let’s run a Tracert test next here:

Hi Tratt,
Actually, as you wrote that, I suddenly realized what is causing this. I have a VPN running for work most/all of the day. I’ve been using it for months. I just disabled the VPN, tried re-launching the game and everything worked smoothly. I instantly connected and could change realm without problem. It definitely seems that my VPN was causing this issue.
What’s weird is that I’ve been using this VPN and playing WoW with it on for the past 6 months – the disconnection problem only occured after pre-patch. Very strange, but at least I can bypass it by disabling the VPN while playing.
Thank you for your assistance and for helping me realize it was the VPN running!
Good to see you solved it Snugglehugs. Thanks for reporting back.
Not sure why the Patch would cause issue with VPN. Connection issues are in the realm of Voodoo magic on occasion.
