Disconects because my ISP changes my IP address

I have Starlink, unfortunately sometimes it changes my IP address constantly. I’ve had it stable where it lasts 24 hours, but sometimes it will change every 60 seconds. It seems just random to me. Every time it does I get disconnected.

Is there a way to prevent WoW from disconnecting every time my IP does this?

Thanks for reading.

Are you sure it’s your WAN IP and not your LAN IP(as in 192.168.x.xxx)? Some routers are flaky with reconnects if you lose WiFi connection and have MAC randomization turned on in Windows(random hardware addresses is the setting name in Windows if you search for it). To the router, it sees a completely different device and assigns it a fresh new LAN IP and likely won’t route any of the previous connection’s data to it, which would lead to a DC in WoW.

I did check that after you mentioned, thakns for that, but randomization is off.

I just got Starlink, so I currently have also have my old 15mpbs DSL while the plan expires. My DSL is stable, does not disconnect. Starlink disconnect is quite frequent. If that helps any, it appears to just be one particular ISP and not the other.

Well I guess you might have to take it up with them then, if you can fully confirm that your WAN IP is changing. Most ISPs lease you on a WAN IP for quite a while before cycling it to a new one. If you don’t feel like logging into your router constantly, you can double check quickly by googling for “what is my ip” to see, you might need to click a link to a site to see both IPV4 and 6.

Oh and that’s one more thing you could try in WoW is to disable IPV6 in the options>system>network section. Some ISPs aren’t fully 100% onboard with it all yet.
