Once again a decision that clearly shows they have 0 understanding of PvP…
I will give you the numbers for shield in PvP(those are without mastery):
-
right now base shield absorbs 57k dmg(without any damp/ms effect)
-
after the 15% buff it will absorb ~70.5k dmg
-
right now with aegis talent shield absorbs 74k dmg decaying by 2.2k every second
-
after the aegis nerf(10%) and base 15% buff it will absorb 80k dmg decaying by 1.5k every second
Disc priests biggest problem is that it’s impossible to top up people, in damp above 25% this grows exponential in difficulty…and i am not even counting MS effects… to get a better idea after 25% damp the shields break instant(1 to max 2 seconds) so the decaying absorb value doesnt affect us at all since there is no time for that to happen, dmg is way too strong.
So the realistic buff to disc is a 6k dmg absorb. 6k increased absorb shield…before any damp/ms effect.

As soon as the 40% Dampening diminishing returns kicked in for mastery, PWS shield got nerfed and they changed the set bonus the spec doesn’t feel good to play.
I personally think the spec doesn’t feel correct without at least 25% haste (undoable since we need mastery ATM).
I would make death, solace, shadow covenant, and archangel on a shorter GCD or off GCD
Lowering the mind control cast time with talent.
Change harsh Disciple to 3/2 casts to proc depending on points (none of the disc talents are just cool to drop a single point ATM).
MindGames should be on expiation.
Trinity should just make all atonements last an extra 15 seconds and increase crit on penance, smite & Mindbender by 30 percent without needing 3 atonements, also maybe allow it to make minbender last an extra few seconds or give higher mana per attack so mindbender is maybe worth taking again.

its a 17.6% buff, not a 15% buff.

Maybe the reason disc hard to buff is because they good in rbgs. I notice that with a few under power healers. Resto druid not that great but they good in 2s and disc not that great but they good in rbgs.

Not this.
They told you why in the update release notes: they don’t want Disc (or any other healer for that matter) to be able to heal through spike damage.
They want you dead, period.
As said previously, this this is a nerf.
That’s not what they said. They said “Aegis of Wrath was too impactful in PvP due to its ability to deal with burst damage so we’re reducing Discipline’s reliance on the talent and baking in some of its power to Power Word: Shield baseline”
The talent itself was too powerful as to be mandatory so they shifted some power out of the talent and into base power word shield. They did this to reduce disc’s reliance on said talent, though I expect it to still be a must pick.
Just because you say it, doesn’t mean its true. Both changes together amount to an 8.6% buff to power word shield.

Hasn’t disc always kind of had this problem though? It’s supposed to be an offensive pressure healer and has always been on a timer.
Also its been awhile since I’ve played disc, but is the shield effected by dampening now? Disc used to be good because it wasn’t effected as much by dampening I thought
I recommend you to watch Absterge stream and check his disc games. Also you can ask him how the spec feels

In Shadowlands, my radiance would top people right up. 20% to 100% with one radiance. I also had three schools of heals, so I had more options to top up. Atonement healing felt way better. Now you can’t play offensively. I actually prefer to be an offensive healer, but right now it’s not possible to heal through atonement in 3s and RSS. It’s possible in 2s but feels kinda clunky and the rotation is annoying.

They’re not balancing aroung rbgs
Explain the Guardian adjustments two weeks ago.
Well, with the way they’ve adjusted augmentation evoker separately in BGs and arena, maybe they can start doing that for other specs too.
(copium)
What else did you think this meant? What else could it mean?
Its a nerf because it makes that part of the tree less attractive.
And.
Giving back the 15% that they previously took away isn’t a ‘buff’ either; they made a mistake in doing so. But they’ll never admit to it.

Not that I play disc priest but this feels a bit disingenuous. 2s starts at around what? 30% dampening and its 40 within a minute? Disc priest teams don’t just fall over because of that.
Double healer 2’s starts at 10% dampening I believe
Disc will never be balanced as long as it requires damage as a part of its healing. It would need constant adjustments to not be over powered or under powered. Since the start of BFA, it’s been like that. Either bottom or top.
The spec needs to be gutted again.
Disc priest will never ever be balanced as a healer (And I already dislike healers as a role entirely). It will forever be degenerate and oppressive when its good and worthless when its bad because of its psuedo DPS + proactive design.
If there was any single spec that needs to be converted ASAP into a support like augevoker, its disc priest.
Could mean you’re good at gaslighting I suppose
Throwaway accounts only have the best of intentions.
