Not only am I having insane fun in Mythic+ with how Disc has been streamlined, but I just tried out the Oracle spec that Automatic Jak recommended for raid - and I am blown away!! I finally feel like I have a viable raid spec!
I love the visual effect of the eyes and the flow of moving through Premonition and Clarvoyance! This is headed in the correct direction. Thanks again for creating a viable raid spec for Disc!! <3
I love Oracle but I could not keep playing it anymore (for all the wrong reasons).
I said it a couple times months ago but the permanent golden light on my Night Elf Priest(ess of the moon) was so annoying.
If only we had a Glyph that changes the color from gold to silver and perhaps changing the icon from an eye to a moon… oh boy I would have cried and scream pure happiness.
But yeah… Oracle is super fun
Whenever I use the spec I need to transmog something that covers my character’s face because it feels really awkward.
IDK how they were so shortsighted to not think how immersion breaking those glowing eyes can be on certain races. At the very least they should offer a dark version glyph, since Disc can use the hero talents.
Or take the Legion rout when Holy was golden, Shadow was purple and Discipline waa white/grey…
At least white would have been more neutral.
I do play Oracle, I love the themes and anesthetics and gameplay but how I wish for a way to turn it off because of how it messes with my transmog.
Give me a color changing glyph
agree, and having a blast, but im scared. Shields this strong might throw a red flag. Last time this spec had this good of shields, well …you know what blizz does
See i dont ubderstand his raid talent. He had oracle spec into power word life in the hero talent but doesnt have us to spec into power word life in the class talent. I asked him about it but he aaid it was intensional
It’s because if you’re playing the ramp playstyle, it’s technically an HPS loss to take Waste No Time.
Basically because it makes radiance instant, when you cast radiance you instantly apply atonement in front of the GCD. Since you can’t cast anything else through the GCD, you lose that much atonement time when you start your burst.
This is only really a concern if you’re doing the majority of your healing from your full raid ramp (which the suggested raid build does). Which is why it’s OK to take Waste No Time in a dungeon build.
Unfortunately shields are simply too powerful, especially when combined with lenience in mid to high level key situations. I would be expecting significant nerfs if Oracle Disc M+ was something I played.
I’ve wondered if this is really the case. You end up losing all of 1 Smite from your Atonement ramp, but you start the main ramp earlier and gain Radiance back faster (from the start of Radiance cast to start of next radiance cast). It might be a shorter ramp but I think it just compresses it, not really affecting your overall HPS. I can’t believe it’s so critical as to be worth a completely dead talent node.
But it’s quite literally a gain of one global vs not having that global. So it is an HPS gain. You DON’T gain anything by taking waste no time, because you’re still going to hit the same ramp targets, so you’ll use your radiance the same way. The only thing you’d gain is some mana in a particularly long fight. Since you can’t leverage that global’s worth of cooldown time.
Personally I just didn’t play the ramp style when playing Disc in raid, and I took it for that, lol.
I agree that Oracle is heading in a good direction for both specs. It is very fun to have our old spells be strong once again. I do agree that we need a glyph for the effect though, it looks bad on some races.
What I’m getting at-
You lose 1.5 secs at the tail end of your dps phase.
You gain .5 seconds from the shorter ramp.
In my thinking, you give up a single Smite at the tail end of the damage phase to gain a shorter ramp, starting the damage phase .5 secs faster, mana, and freedom of mobility on your opening Radiance. Presumably, the critical phase in damage bursts comes halfway through, when health bars are depleting, not at the end where folks are either dead or stabilized. Waste No Time then starts the next ramp 2 seconds sooner.
It seems too simplistic to just look at the Atonement duration in a vacuum, and that it would depend on timings in individual fights.
*edit
I’m looking at Method’s guide and the rec is to premo after the double Radiance but before damage amp- with Waste No Time having a 20 sec time limit to use, I wonder if it would even be active when the next set of Radiances come up.
Issue is they got rid of rapture so they had to make the 1 pws, worthwhile casting. I dont feel thats the issue. They might nerf the 5 seconds longer pws duration talent. Thats whats allowing people to get out more then 1-2 pws’s on the group
Lenience its just 2% DR. That’s so small they barely even matter unless you are doing the highest of keys in the world
I’m currently playing Rdruid, Hpal, MW and disc priest, with priest being the last healer I’m gearing. Hpal is a lot of fun rn with Ellesmere/Tempolight Build, probably the best it has been since S2 DF, MW its aswell peaking and even better than DF S3 even with the latest nerfs imo, Rdruid is also fun so far, but disc priest oracle…
It’s just on a whole other level. Not just in fun, as a healer main the carry capacity you have with this spec is insane. You have so much control over people health bars and if you know every single damage patten/event and if you are aware of your environment there’s just no other healer right now that can prevent such an absurd amount of damage. It’s freaking awesome.
I really just do not ever want to play that class till BoS is gone.
Agreed on Oracle though. I’m glad people are picking it up, lol. I was singing its praises when they first announced the changes to 11.1 and was playing it in 10s/11s in the first week, and people here were calling me crazy for not taking Mindbender and going the Aegis line. Now it’s the meta.
I’m not likely to push much this season but it’s such a fun spec to play now and I really hope it stays somewhat powerful. I really think Voidweaver is easily the most boring Disc has ever been, so I’d rather it didn’t return.
I appreciate that people can dislike a thing in one context and like that same thing in a different context, but I think we should all recognize that Premonition and Blessing of Seasons are the same thing with the same problems. The primary difference between Premonition and Blessing of Seasons is that you can opt out of Premonition by playing voidweaver, which is just standard discipline as it has existed (now with Rapture replaced by Evangelism).
