Disc Changes

All damage reduced by 30%. Does not affect PvP combat.

Entropic Rift damage increased by 20%.

Atonement now transfers 46% of damage into healing (was 32%). Does not affect PvP combat.

Smarter people than me. Is this a nerf, buff or no change?

It’s mathematically almost no change in the amount of healing done except for a sight increase if Entropic Rift heals with Atonement. I don’t play Disc so I don’t know what Entropic Rift does or how frequently you can cast it.

It is clearly a reduction in damage output though.

Previous damage of 100 multiplied by 32% = 32 healing.

New damage of 70 multiplied by 46% = 32.2 healing.

It will reduce our damage a bit, but I knew that was on the chopping block. Overall it should be a net neutral change.

It’s a weird choice to hit all damage rather than void blast.

Oracle Disc is suffering for Voidweaver’s sins, basically.

I think in the real word its going to work out to be a net nerf, cause now you have to waste globals getting atonement onto people now that penance doesn’t do it

Radiance was a pretty reliable tool to get them out before. It’ll be good now too.

Yes, what a reliable tool! I love spending 5% of my mana spreading atonement!

Kinda how last season VW disc sat as the absolute worst healer in M+ and Raid because our atonement got nerfed into the ground because Oracle was too good? Oracle and VW are pretty close in healing output this season, so Oracle isn’t suffering nearly as much for VW’s sins as VW suffered for Oracle’s all last season.

Its almost like they haven’t grasped the concept of adjusting the hero talents. Almost like there are atonement and damage modifiers in each tree for a reason. Also, the 30% damage nerf is BS whether you are talking VW or Oracle. Priest has never had much in the way of utility and we have the mobility of a potted plant. Disc priest is the original damage dealing healer, if any healer deserves to be doing more damage than the others, it is disc priest. Its literally what we are built around.

If they are gonna give us the same damage as every other healer, then I want the utility that other healers have. A dispel that dispels 3 debuffs instead of 2 (with one being the worst dispel in the game in disease), some actual mobility (yes we have feather but we need actual displacement to get out of bad quicker), some real CC because having to run into melee to scream is just dumb (Shining force anyone? Hello?). If not, then leave our damage alone. Let it be high because its basically what we bring to the table at this point.

And of course the funniest part about all this. They literally just buffed the damage of everything and left it that way the whole PTR cycle. They buffed smite 40%, Uppies 30%, Void Blast 25% but then turn around and nerf everything 30% which also hits our SWP and Penance. So what was the point of our PTR changes?
