Disaster Prepatch! All Aboard!

I have never been one to complain about content. I’ve always been of the opinion that if it’s in the game, I can play it–or not–and be happy. Even pre-patch events that are important to the future of the game.

I do feel like playing the pre-patch is generally necessary, because it boosts your gear ahead of the actual expansion. So I am playing it, but the more I play it, the more I wonder if Blizzard is filling my bowl with mud and calling it hot stew.

First, the class changes. I actually lost talents on my balance druid, which is fine. And yet my warrior still has so many talents they won’t all fit properly on my bars. Do we have easy and hard-mode classes to play now? If I want a challenge, do I play my warrior? The balancing seems to have been done on vibes alone. And look, I don’t really care that there was talent pruning. As someone with good ol’ ADHD, having fewer buttons to push makes me more effective. But either balance it across the board or don’t do it, you know?

Second, the event itself.

Whose idea was it to make the weekly quests warband bound? Lifting this restriction alone would have made a lot more people happy, because it would make getting all the event items purchasable without the endless grind. That’s why people are so upset. There is not one person I’ve ever spoken to who likes artificial timegates.

I have also heard this event compared to firefighter arson a LOT, and I’m sure we can expect more ease-of-use changes as the patch goes on and more people get frustrated with it. Killing bosses over and over (which I can’t see, by the way. Why are they so small???) isn’t fun. The fact that I can’t even do world quests between the bosses is also frustrating because the world quest don’t spawn fast enough.

I did them two days ago. I have ONE to do today. If Blizzard wanted to make this fun and not a chore, these WQs would be constantly popping. I’m talking dozens a day. Because some people don’t want to wait to kill the same bosses over and over again. Give people different ways to play.

Next, the only reason I’m collecting the gear is so I can have a good ilevel for expansion launch. It is visibly boring and common. This isn’t what I would expect from limited time gear that’s only available during this pre-patch. I know it’s not, but it feels like a re-color. Why isn’t there even anything that glows? Yeah, I like things that sparkle. Humor me.

Anyway, there are a few topics on this already. I’ve just thought about it for a couple days and realized that if we want the firefighter who started this blaze to be the hero and put it out, we’re all going to have to do a lot more complaining.

You’re having to wonder? You can’t taste the mud?

listen, I want to BELIEVE it’s hot stew. Some kind of new stew I’ve never tried before.

but yeah it tastes like mud

This pre-patch is super embarrassing.

It’s the bare minimum effort. If I’m feeling mentally charitable, maybe that was because of housing and resources being directed to that and they just didn’t have the cycles to go all out on this.

Still, your point stands. There is no reason WQs can’t be popping everywhere, currency adjusted upward, etc. And the fact the weekly quests are warband lockout is the one data point that makes me think this is not just a resourcing issue, but rather a philosophical problem within the team that I hope does not spill into Midnight.

Y’all wanted housing.

Well, you got housing.

They lowered the bar for quality content on this event so low that you’d have to be 50 ft. underground to see it.

There were soo many other ways to doing this, first they put Twilight sympathisers in SW and OG. How they can be such a luck of creativity as they haven’t turned some NPCs against us? Like the AH vendors could have turned against us randomly, or the portal npcs polying us in mage tower that would be annoying but realistic as we have npcs they collaborate with the twiligt. This one quest, go there, kill them. This was a nonsense and we can think out better in our 5 minutes time on toilets. It feels like we get a quest in stormwind and then check, see you on the highlands.

Now that we have housing, we know asset placement isn’t hard. They essentially just plopped some NPC’s down, gave two of them some dialogue, and then added 19 NPC’s on individual timers. The neatest thing about it is probably the spawn transitions, where purple void flame comes up from the ground the skybox changes.

Other than that, I can’t imagine a ton of time was spent on this.

Edit: Forgot the world quests, so there’s that as well. Two weeks to a month, maybe?

My Copium is that Blizz cut resources on the event in order to try and make the launch of Midnight not a complete dumpster fire.

Log in to do a few WQ, stand around looking at house and log.

That’s about what’s to come.

What does this mean?

Well based off your thread title which is obvious rage bait and the way your thread was structured and written? It would appear as if you’re either trying to be toxic? Or you just enjoy complaining. To be honest I think most of the people in general discussion wouldn’t know what to do with themselves if they had literally nothing to complain about.

Heck we even have people who self-admittedly pay the sub fee just to troll on the forms. So stop lying to yourself no matter what blizzard changes or does you would be here to complain just the same

It is a bit of a lame duck for a prepatch. But hey, it’s giving me time to get mage tower challenges done! Just got the healer one left now to get the mount. Should be… interesting :grimacing:
