Disappointment

Took me less than 2 minutes to go from realizing it was live and getting 525 cooking. And 95% of that was crafting cast times with the chef hat on.

I did all the prep work. The problem was the race starred early with no announcement.

Look, the thing that prompted the thread is incredibly silly, but the point stands. Just be on time when there are a lot of people counting on that time being accurate. I can’t think of any well regarded competitive events that arbitrarily allow people to get a head start because they showed up before the event started.

time to get over it. I and many others got realm firsts we prepped for months denied because the first wotlk ship screwed us.

prepping arch and cooking is a thing of literally 2 and 14 days, more if you dont have the chefs hat yet. Just do it better next time but next time there will be yet another zone loading that can be like the ships in wotlk.

That is a bug screwing you. Thats very different than intentionally launching early with 0 announcements on it.

Unintentional from an unforseen bug is one thing. Intentional starting the race early with no announcement of the race starting is another altogether.

same outcome. you dont know if intentional or not nor do I.

I know it sucks but you wont get the thing handed nor will anyone else. You just go for it again with ruling out stupid things like that and pray that you can load into the zones.

Or simply go for the one that no one even bothers doing. Which is getting all reputations exalted first. Better luck next time.

That implies this was a well regarded competitive event. A better solution is for blizzard to stop creating stupid nonsense competitive events.

It’s moreso an implication that there are existing, rational benchmarks to use for conduct.

Being able to max Cata cooking in minutes of launch isn’t a rational benchmark. Every recipe using Wrath meat and fish should be grey by the time you get to 475. You should have to farm cata zones and the final 10 points should require farming in the highest level Cata zone. It’s a stupid server first based on a flawed cooking design.

I didn’t say it was. I said they should start events exactly on time because we can look to other, outside examples of well planned events that start exactly when planned.

FWIW I agree with you - the reasoning that prompted OP to post this thread is very silly, but their point stands.

I was able to do it without buying a single item from the AH. I have 5 chefs.

there was more outrageous things.

for example the first aid and leatherworking guys that got these within 3minutes because they farmed mobs that were not supposed to be there in prepatch and got patched out a week later.

so only these could get it done. I mean nothing with this whole thing is fair, just enjoy when wod launches and only giving us realm firsts out of reach by everyone but 5 people.

A poorly designed Cata cooking system gave you a legal way to game the system. It’s not a real competition.

That’s one reason I thought

It already works this way

Outside of the cooking daily and meat crate you can buy from its token this is how it works.

I farmed the crate on 5 characters durring prepatch to have the meat to go to 525.

I don’t care how you gamed a flawed system to get to 525, but it’s good that you admit it. And since you tried to game a flawed system I don’t care that your game didn’t work. Here’s my solution to your crying and whining in this thread, the solution is for blizzard to stop creating stupid nonsense competitive events.

How is it flawed? I put in a lot of prep work which included doing hundreds of dailies.

Chef hat takes 100 dal cooking awards. Which is needed to have a chance at realm first 525 chef because it saves a lot of time on crafting.

Even assuming you got 2 tokens a day thats doing the daily for 50 days.

I also did the org cooking daily since prepatch on 5 characters, one to buy the recipes (the one with the chef hat) and 4 to buy boxes of meat.

All in all i had to do about 150-200 dailies to prepair across muktiple characters. That isnt an exploit.

You chose not to care about the race. Others do care.

Play the game how you like, and i will do the same, but the issue is blizzard failed to deliver the launch experience they promised by not sticking to their stated launch time. Which ruins the experience for those who wanted to partake in one of the “race” events. And it wasnt an unforseen bug like the wotlkc boat issues. It was 100% chosen to happen for it to launch early, which means it wasnt a mistake, it was intentional.

How is it possible to get meat from zones that don’t exist? That’s at least one of the flaws.

Play how ever you want but if you’re going to whine about it on a forum that explicitly is called DISCUSSION then you are explicitly asking for a response. I get that you only want agreement as a response and you got disagreement and laughter instead. Deal with that reality.

This is not an Apollo moon launch. It’s a video game. The launch isn’t on a countdown by the seconds. That’s another reality you need to deal with. Don’t cry about it.

I’m having a hard time comprehending a comment like that. Maybe you are simply unaware of it before typing this, but there was in fact an exact timer, INCLUDING the seconds on their launch application. ->Time to cata launch - with a countdown clock.

So what? Like I said this isn’t an Apollo moon launch. It’s just a video game. This isn’t the first time things in a video game have launched earlier or later than promised. I fully expected Cata to be unplayable on launch day. It wasn’t nearly as buggy as I expected. You babies need to grow up and get a grip on reality.

Absolutely spot on. if not getting some plastic achievement is your biggest disappointment in life then you haven’t lived life yet. I’ll say it too. Grow up and move on.

It’s happened MANY times in the past. In WoW, in D3, it happens a lot. This is your own fault.
