Disappointment Regarding "The War Within" Launch for PvP Community

Dear Blizzard Entertainment Team,

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the launch of “The War Within” expansion, particularly from the perspective of the PvP community. The recent changes and decisions have left the PvP player base feeling ignored and neglected, driving the stake even deeper into what already feels like a dying community.

The delay of Bloody Tokens and War Mode gear until Season 1, combined with the extreme time gating of two weeks post-launch (two and a half weeks after early access), has left the PvP community with absolutely nothing to engage in. War Mode is hardly active, with little to no incentive for players—especially on RP/RPPvP servers—to enable it. There is no content or rewards during these initial weeks to encourage large-scale World PvP (WPvP) or even small skirmishes, leaving players without any goals to work towards.

For a brief moment, there was some potential with the honor gear farm, but even that was undermined by the decision to run the Comp Stomp brawl during early access and launch week. This allowed players to farm AI bots for free gear, bypassing any real PvP competition against other players. Additionally, the current WPvP quests are irrelevant, as the power level of the rewards is lower than that of honor gear—yet another oversight in stimulating WPvP engagement.

As a dedicated member of the PvP community, I urge you to reconsider your approach to these issues. The current state of affairs has been deeply disappointing and has contributed to an ever-growing sense of disillusionment among those of us who cherish PvP gameplay.

I hope this feedback helps bring about meaningful changes that can reinvigorate the PvP community and restore our faith in the game’s future.

Sincerely,

The tyrannical rulers of Emerald Dream, The Guard

Totally agree about comp stomp. I was really annoyed when they pulled deep wind dunk, but I was getting an error when I tried to queue so maybe it was broken and they swapped it out? Compatomp is a total nonsense mode, especially when everybody is being forced into BGs at the same time.

I don’t think it makes sense to put bloody token gear out to farm since it’s such a high pve item level. I wish they would have allowed tokens to be farmed and just not put items on sale.

I think you should review the pvp vendors, though. There’s over 100,000 honor of stuff to farm.

Should note that the reason why Bloody Tokens is delayed is because it’s the new currency to buy the high end WPvP gear. It’ll work similarly to Conquest, being on a weekly seasonal cap.

I do think it was a weird decision though to just put the blue/rare versions of the WPvP as an RNG reward from PvP WQs though.

Another thing that kind of ticks me off is the WPvP gear is still 3 ilvls below Honor/Conq gear even though it no longer has the WPvP tier set attached to it. Why is this gear still gimped?

Blizzard completely ignored any questions regarding PvP gear too during the entirety of the beta process… I reported so many times that if they’re not going to have a WPvP tier set that they should bring the gear up to par with Honor/Conq gear respectively. Also, in TWW, PvP gear seemingly can’t be upgraded past the Veteran track.

In Dragonflight, Conquest gear bought from the vendor were put on the Veteran upgrade track and the only way to get it on a higher track was to do rated PvP. Depending on your rating, your gear from vault would be put on a higher track (i.e 2400 is Myth track and higher PvE ilvl). With the removal of the PvP Vault, there’s no way to upgrade further.

They also stealth changed the way PvP gear is crafted. For one, we no longer need the season Sparks, which could be seen as a good thing, but we can only get PvP ilvl on the specific PvP recipes. No longer can we choose from the other crafting pieces with unique embellishments and put a PvP ilvl on it like we could in Dragonflight.

I’m honestly disappointed that we received so little response from the dev team. They were not transparent at all.

Blood Tokens has always been the currency to buy the WPvP gear… in the past it was tokens paired with trophies of strife which are now removed. Nothing has changed in regard to that except the removal of trophies, but in place of trophies blizzard has put a weekly cap on blood tokens. So at the end of the day nothing has changed in regard to limiting the pace at which you can obtain war mode / wpvp gear. The only thing that has changed is they delayed it until season start which is ridiculous. And has only deterred WPvP and further hindered the PvP community.

There’s nothing wrong with it being an RNG reward. It was always been that way. But, what is asinine, is the fact that the RNG WQ gear is lesser power than honor gear, and warmode gear is time-gated until season start. Therefore, there is literally ZERO incentive or reason to partake in WPvP or do PvP quest in the open world until blood tokens are released.

The WPvP gear is higher than honor gear, always has been and still is. However, you are correct in that it will be -3 ilvls lower than conquest, as it should be. That is perfectly fine…all the more reason for it to have been available to work towards since week 1.

This is irrelevant. (1) during the 2 week period prior to season start, you would only be able to obtain 1 piece, maybe 2 if you went with lower cost off-pieces. It would hardly affect PvE. Not to mention, typically PvP stats dont work well for 90% of PvE specs. Additionally, it’s not like the PvE crowd has anything to do right now themselves with M0’s being gated until season start.

I have… I’ve done beta…I’ve done early access. I know what the vendors have. It takes less than a day to obtain a full honor set, and all the profession patterns. Then after that you need 90,000 honor to be able to obtain all jewelry sockets if you do not obtain it through events in WPvP.

It was mainly used to buy the blue/rare WPvP gear, which you can no longer buy from the vendors.

That’s only for the epic/purple WPvP gear, which has always been the case every season start. The epic WPvP gear is at ilvl 636 and the Conquest gear is at ilvl 639. You’re still able to obtain the blue/rare WPvP gear, but like I said, it can no longer be bought from the vendor and is only awarded from the WPvP WQs, but the rewards are RNG.

It was that way IN CONJUNCTION with being sold at the vendor, but is no longer sold at the vendor. That’s why I said it was a weird decision to put them as an RNG reward. Because it can only be obtained through the WPvP quests.

I’m referring to the blue/rare WPvP gear (PvP ilvl 623) in comparison to the Honor gear (PvP ilvl 626) and the epic/purple WPvP gear (PvP ilvl 636) in comparison to Conquest gear (PvP ilvl 639)

The reason why they were lower in PvP ilvl was because it had a WPvP tier set attached to it (the Breaker’s 2/4/6 tier set). They got rid of the WPvP tier set though and they still have the reduced ilvl.

I assumed they reintroduced Comp Stomp because it is super easy honor farm that gave early accessers a huge advantage over regular purchasers.

But, yeah, they could have had more rewards for wPvP right in the beginning.

When rewards do come out, though, the wPvP is going to be amazing. I did not like Dragonflight much, and quit after just 1 month, but the wPvP was one of the real highlights.

BTW. Is there a way to dismount flyers in TWW yet!?

Whirling Surge. Bugged though and doesn’t work on Druids or anyone who is using the normal flying (steady flight). Does work on skyriding mounts though.

The old “net” from BFA works in TWW on skyriding and normal mounts. It’s just gimped from the DF gun.
