Disappointed with Paying for Early Access to the New Expansion

Bro there was 100 percent early access on dragonflight launch

Bro there was not.

Man i swear i remember being able to play dragonflight 3 days early if u pre ordered the xpac

A lot of game companies do this to spread out the server load and have a more stable launch.

yes it is.

they can assert that you won’t “be able to tell the diff between someone who was in EA and not in the ‘long run’” but that’s the wrong way of looking at it. I’m looking at it regarding where I would be if I competed with myself.

The whole thing hinges on “what you can gain weekly from some decided upon playtime.” If I have limited playtime, say only saturdays to play, I will be a week ahead, perpetually, due to early access.

What they mean to say is you won’t be able to tell the difference between two players who play like it’s a full time job in the long run due to EA.

If you made a Dracthyr, maybe that’s what you were thinking of? All we had was the new hero class, which got dumped into Stormwind with everyone else upon finishing their starter zone. But maybe you remembered being out there on Forbidden Reach.

Early access is bugged. Be thankful you dodged that bullet.

The entire game is bugged. But early access hasn’t even started yet.

That could be it i havent played retail i quit shortly after launch of df so my memory is a bit foggy

its a rough dynamic that shouldnt have been at the very top end tier.
if it was everyone who pre ordered getting EA, i think that would be better. now its a split of community. i got friends who got EA and we where planning on leveling together… i didnt get EA tier…

Then it’s not early access. It’s just… access.

“Competing with myself” is some serious mental gymnastics to say EA provides a competitive advantage.

For people that actually play the game and do the content, EA doesn’t provide anything.

I hear ya there. I’m playing because of friends, but all of the bugs, the fact that I don’t care about dwarves, Na’vi, half elf paladins, dark places I can’t see in, or spiders makes me meh on this expansion.

I’m let down. Actually.

Very let down.

I thought I had early access, and I don’t so I need to buy it now.

I bet shareholders get together and scroll the forums while they drink expensive coffees and laaauuuugggghhhhh!!! oh, and count their money.

I feel like they paid chris metzen to gaslight us to make people really think this xpac will be diffeent for some reason

It’s not so much “early access” than it is “first wave access in a staggered release to relieve congestion.”

I think the problem is that this expansion is part one of a trilogy and it’s written like a series of novels. So it’s the boring setup. Midnight will be more interesting and Last Titan will be the huge climax— which apparently includes Illidan. The ramp up is a problem for a video game, though.
