There are things I don’t want to craft, but sometimes they get accidentally selected and I end up unfortunately making some thinking something else is selected. We should be able to disable some items on the prof menu. Like we can right click and add to favorites, what about right click and add to disable. Right click and enable to re-enable.
For example codex of the quiet mind. Hardly ever sells, and just sucks up mats like mad. Make a bunch accidentally and you lose mats like crazy.
The Skillet trade skill UI replacement add-on apparently allows you to filter the list of available recipes, but it’s pretty big and comprehensive and probably overkill for just blacklisting recipes.
Other than that, the only suggestions I would make would be"write your own add-on for this" or “pay attention to the crafting UI.”
I use favorites. That moves the things I craft often OUT of the list of things I don’t want to craft.
When crafting things I don’t craft often – I am careful. There are 1,000 ways to mess up in this game. Fall off a cliff. Craft the wrong item. Set the wrong price on an AH posting. Buy or sell the wrong amount. Buy the wrong item.
Nobody can protect you from “making mistakes”.
Can put guardrails to help prevent mistakes. I use the favorites designation for it’s intended purpose, for often crafted items. But there should also be a ‘least favorite’ category for stuff you rarely, if ever, craft.
So just keep put your occasionally crafted items, and have a frequently crafted section and a very rarely crafted section. That would help.
I agree. It would be useful. When I craft, I sometimes get frustrated by the hundreds of recipes that I’ll never craft, which make it hard to find the ones that I sometimes use.
I use TSM to queue only the patterns that should make me a minimum profit. It then creates a shopping list so I know what to buy off of the AH or from a vendor, than I just click its button to craft everything on the list, one after the other. No need to deal with Blizzard ancient crafting interface.
The crafting interface is for the most part fine, it could just use a few tweaks such as this. I’d rather use a spreadsheet than have some addon tell me what prices to set. I stock up on mats big time, allowing me to craft based on the long term price of mats, not the day to day price. Who knows how addons figure it.
I just accept mostly the default values, but TSM has a variety of pricing strategies to choose from including I believe prices based on what you bought materials for already. It is essentially the in-game version of your spreadsheet, though I don’t accidentally waste mats on a mis-click, which is what you were asking for and is likely the best you are going to get in the next year or so.
Can you manually set the mat prices in TSM? In case it only goes by data for a few days, not averaged over a few weeks.
Yes. There is a page where you can set how you want the cost calculated for any item, including items that can’t be purchased like expulsom or sanguicell. In those cases, a formula can be manually entered, overriding the defaults, so that expulsom is based on the cost of crafting 6 bracers (the average for creating one expulsom) or sanguicell is based on the sales prices of blood feasts that can be created with them.
Complicated system at times, but lots of power.
