Dirt piles state that they require an expedition shovel or expedition multi-toolbox to unearth. From what I understand the expedition multi-toolbox recipe for engineers was removed from the expansion prior to launch. So, either there is still a secret method of obtaining it still or the tooltip is incorrect?
Blacksmiths make the Sturdy Expedition Shovel to do those. It has 20 charges per shovel unlike the 5 charges from the Dragonscale NPC

I know, I make and use them all the time. 
I’m just reporting that the tool tip still refers to an item that was removed from the game that engineers made that worked similarly.
ahhh I re-read it and yes that’s exactly what you are saying lol. My brain not as fast as my fingers apparently. I makes so many also for my jeweler hunting down those dang pet recipes. Good thing it isn’t RL manual labor; my old back would be screaming digging for “treasure” that cannot be found.

No worries! I’ve been in that state of mind a lot lately, as well. I appreciate your effort to help, all the same. This is my jewelcrafter, so I feel your pain there. I keep getting random clusters on my alts 
I sure wouldn’t be digging those holes in real life, either haha.
