Directx 12 Issue

Do we have a fix for this yet? Directx 11 (or Legacy) causes such unbelievably long loading times, it’s ridiculous. Directx 12 has less loading and is less strain on my CPU but I can’t use it because of the problems surrounding it.

The second I enter the zone with the raid entrance on Directx 12, I drop down to 15 fps from 60. I have 60 everywhere else without much of a problem. It’s incredibly annoying.

Hi Shadina

Lets take a look at a DXDiag system report to start here:

The second section of page has DXDiag report instructions - we don’t require the MSinfo report.

That will be a wall of text. If you have issues pasting on the Forum here go ahead and put it up on pastebin.com. Provide the link code portion of the URL - example below.

(The green bold portion at the end of this example link: https://pastebin.com/**Qk28Ed1P** <=== this code)

I’ve already seemed to address it. A couple of changes in graphics settings, and a scan / repair appears to have somehow fixed the issue.

I thought the issue was still persisting because of the other forum thread saying people who are running into high fps problems should swap from Directx 12 to 11Legacy, but whatever I did seems to have fixed it.

Should be fine to just close this thread in the mean time.

putting it to dx 11 helped my issue with the fps but its still spotty. Like zuldazar in-particular. Its as if the “fog/smog/weather” effects seem to be causing me heeps of issues. i leave that zone and the fps goes back to 60 instead of a crappy 19 and below. I even pretty much nuked all my graphics to nothing to see if it would be stable. didnt help any.

Those effects you mention are Particle effects. You would want to experiment with the Particle Density setting.

yep did that. to off. still have the fps drastically drop for no reason in zuldazar

Lets take a closer look at things. I mention a DXDiag report above. Go ahead and paste one of those.

I’m seeing possible graphics issues and Razer software issues. Let’s run a clean uninstall - reinstall of the Nvidia first. We will use a tool called DDU for that purpose.

Download the most recent Nvidia driver here:

Then the DDU tool here:

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2608

Basically you extract the uninstaller from the download. (it will extract to a folder called DDU)

*Important: Unplug the Ethernet or disable the Wifi to avoid Windows automatic driver installation.

I like to boot the computer into safe mode then run the DDU tool. (This isn’t essential and you will need to confirm you have the windows password before you do so. If you are using a PIN it will ask for the actual password after running safe mode.)

On the tool you select Graphics type then Nvidia. Run the recommended “Clean then restart”.

(If AMD graphics were installed at one time you would want to run the tool again - set it to AMD then clean those remnants out)

Now for the install. Start the driver download. Select Graphics only (no GeForce Experience). Select Custom install carry on to the next pane. There is a box to check for Clean Install select (check) that box. (Resets the Nvidia control panel and profiles to defaults)

You will see a Windows Smart Screen warning when you start the Driver install as you are offline - ignore that.

Afterwards uninstall Razer Synapse then reinstall.

A couple of things about your dxdiag.
1 - Bios is way our of date - 6 versions back - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z270-PC-MATE.html

2 - is there a reason you’re running the two monitors off of 2 different video cards?
DXDiag is showing the Acer G205HV on the intel graphics, and the T24 on the nvidia 1050.
Which monitor are you playing on?
Maybe try plugging both monitors into the 1050 or disconnecting the 2nd monitor to test.

first i wanna say WHOA thank u for your speedy reply so the reasoning for the out of date bios is in feb something happened to where i had to get a help from a microsoft windows advisor and heres a brief summary "Andrew S.

SO in order for ALL the devices in the pc to communicate correctly you route them all through the motherboards “chipset” so thats one of the drivers we had to update as the one you were using did not have support for the newest windows version which you are using now. THe one we installed now still only supports 1903 and not 1909 but it is an update nonetheless.

SO after that we made sure to do a clean install of the graphics drivers using the LATEST drivers can sometimes cause issues OR fix them depending on the issues.
Yes. When you update windows you sometimes have to update the drivers for the hardware as well as the windows updates have to work together with the software AND the hardware." as for the monitors the acer is so old it only has a vga and DVI port and i didnt have a DVI that i could run from the monitor to the GTX 1080 so i have it running off the mother board its also only 1600 x 900 as to where the T24 is 1080p but i never had issues in two years with the flickering in game tell just recently. sorry if my response is all over the place just flew in running on fumes bare with me xD tbh idk if i shud try installing a update for the msi board or if i do will it make my computer crash again etc thanks so much for your help man truly

Drivers are still something you install in the OS. The BIOS is before the OS (any OS). You still need to update the BIOS.

I would try disconnecting the 2nd monitor. A simpler long term solution is to get a cable or an adapter for hdmi to DVI or whatever your 1050 has to the older monitor.
