my gpu will only work with directx 11 legacy because of how old it is. did the option get removed? because i cant find it anymore and am lagging like crazy. im playing classic
Checked just now in game, even though its down and it does appear that only DX11 and DX12 is there, I no longer see DX11 Legacy. (So not just you)
Yes, it was removed when Blizzard merged the back end for Classic and Retail.
but its still there for cata, so why is that different?
Cata’s client might still be on a different branch that hasn’t had changes from the other branche(s) merged into it.

DirectX 11 “Legacy” is gone, but there are now a half-dozen new specific GPU compatibility options. Disabling all of these options is basically the same as using the old “Legacy” option.
This is actually better overall, since it allows for more granular control over which optimizations you are disabling. You might not actually need to disable all of them…
