Direction of Addon Support

Again you have it backward. Addons are a response to bad design. NO ONE makes a addon that does nothing and then Blizzard comes and makes an encounter for that addon.
Blizzard makes a badly designed encounter and then the addon makers make a addon to try and make it better.
All Blizzard has to do is design encounters that don’t need addons to make them playable.

Thats not even a controversial take

Definitely the experience is getting better without addons. This edit mode was more than good enough for me to delete bartender4. The auction house update was more than good enough for me to delete auctioneer. Blizz IO is alright, but doesn’t give you as much info as RaiderIO still (amount of keys timed in 10+ needs to be shown in default UI). If only they could make nameplates… significantly better than they are now (showing enemy debuffs on top especially) I might delete plater though Quazii’s profile is really good for highlighting what casts need to be kicked in a different color. A damage meter as good as Recount is definitely possible, perhaps even Details. I have no clue how they could ever match weakauras though.

ya im hanging on to omni cc and threatplates till pvp nameplates are better

Same here, when I have my fishing rod and fishing gear on, I have the fish swimming in circles around me.

Also, anything will happen slowly and one step at a time. And when they take away something players actually want, there will be an out cry and they will back down. No way does Bliz have the wherewithal to steer into the iceberg of disabling weak auras.

None of this is evidence of them removing all add-ons lol

I feel like blizzard is gonna fully remove addon support altogether in the future and i hope so,

I have no idea what half of those links have to do with anything.

they just recently added a one button rotation. And do you think add-ons are breaking the game. Interesting.

Because there is none. I dont even know how the OP would not know that.

Blizzard doesn’t ‘support’ addons. It just allows them to be used if they don’t contravene any of their game rules.

Please provide with a source that says that, because as far as I know that is not true.

Immolate/Wither, Chaos Bolt, Incinerate, Conflagrate.
There is nothing else in the base rotation.
WTH are you on about?

Also, try DEvoker for an even easier one.

[Semi off-topic, sarcasm] Imagine believing anything Ion says in 2025.

While there are things we need addons for, this is really not one of them.
Just put them in your favorites or search by name if you know.

It actually made me look for Bartender4, go figure.

Getting into professions this expansions, made me look into auctionator, so I can create shopping lists per profession, get tooltip info on AH prices of things and favorite some searches, which the base UI does not have.

Recount has been dead for a decade now, Details has been objectively superior in every way except maybe for resource usage.

WeakAuras can’t be matched, it’s more than an addon at this point in time, it’s a framework.

On-topic, the day they remove addons, is the day I quit WoW for good.
They are mandatory for reasonable alt tracking, I’m never going back to spreadsheets.
Not to mention the multitude of QoL addons, and the GOAT WeakAuras, which is more of an addon framework than an addon by itself at this point in time, with what it can do.

If they ever ban addons, they’d need something at least as good as Altoholic, Clicked, SavedInstances, Syndicator and AlterEgo for me to even entertain the thought of playing WoW.

Other than that, I need a good LibBroker status bar (Titanbar etc.) replacement, a castbar that shows latency impact (very useful for us second class non-USA players), DialogueUI (the one addon I did not know I needed until I tried it) and decent nameplates to make the experience good.

Finally all the useful non-combat WeakAuras (SkyRiding speed, timers, Profession KP catch ups, LFG Bribe Bag Warnings etc.), and a few combat ones too (My custom made trackers for Whirlwind stacks for Fury, Outlaw buffs etc.)

BG timers are also incredibly helpful.

So, removing addons is like saying to a good part of the playerbase “GTFO”.

looks like someone needs to try warlock again cause you missed some skills, also those are singletarget skills sir, you also forgot to mention the aoe ones and havoc plus the rest

The base rotation is ST.

For AoE you simply swap CB for RoF and apply the DoT with Cataclysm.
Havoc is for 2 target cleave only.

Everything else (SBurn, Soul Fire, Channel DFire) is optional.
CDs and defensives/movement don’t count, and there is only Infernal here, really.

Soul fire is optional? and shadowburn which procs soul fire more with conflag? do you even play the spec bro it has a direct correlation with the passive talent that increases their crit chance to proc soul fire. dont speak on classes you dont play optimally

I don’t need to play anything optimally to do well. What are you talking about?
Playing “optimally” would have made me quit the game several times over, since it’s usually very unfun to do so. We just need to do “good enough”, since 5-10% more DPS isn’t going to change a thing in all difficulties bar mythic raiding and M+ 15+ keys.

So, yes, they are all optional, and I can still top meters without any of those, so?

I personally use Soul Fire (With fast cast procs) and GoSac, but I realize they are not mandatory at all, since destro is still very strong and ultra easy without Shadowburn.

Normal mode warrior, cool man

Is that supposed to be an insult? :dracthyr_crylaugh:
Also, not even that, I’m Delve and PvP only atm.

Stick to your min/maxing and my ignore list.
Min/maxers are the bane of the this game…

Why, I like the base interface without all the garbage that has been added. Addons kinda suck.

This is just false information.
Gamers as a whole have just gotten better over the years. Addons are not to blame.

Look at how fortnite has evolved since the super basic beta. They don’t have addons yet people min/max the poop out of building, gun combos, etc.

Games have just gotten harder and more complex over the years because of the technology and the people playing them.
Its silly to blame addons.

My addon makes the game easier cause its about communicating with people that know things and can help you, maybe you should try addons like such, I have a friend who developed a very useful addon that saves you from yeeting items you want to keep its called “Item Locker” its on curse simple and helpful.

I dont know where to go from here, rotations should be smaller, yet 1 button is too small, if lets say I couldnt move more then my finger and I really want to do content with my friends at level that allows for the group to enjoy the content, how many buttons with my 1 finger should I press while im also dodging mechanics, like 4 directions buttons 1 attack button, thats 5 buttons right there.

Marcos can’t do what The Button can. Macros and scripts can’t read combat information like CDs, resources, and buffs/debuffs to my knowledge.

That said, I don’t see The Button being all that popular among regular players. For one it’s very boring to mindlessly spam one button.

People who will use it are those who don’t want to engage with combat at all. Frankly, might as well have hire-able adventurers that players can control with “Attack” and “Recall” commands.
