As it turns out, it was too much of a QOL thing for the devs to handle implementing so they have removed them completely and replaced with recolored mounts.
Pretty hilarious that the lion’s share of feedback was “15-16 weeks is too long to wait for the first”, so their reaction (at least how it seems on the surface) is “fine, we won’t give you them at all if you’re gonna complain”.
I’m sure they’re going to either have another change coming or are going to need to respond to this to save some face.
This needs an emergency correction. This level of a bait and switch might actually have me unsub and I haven’t even considered it since I came back in 8.2.
Let me put that in perspective. I played all of shadowlands and didn’t unsub.
We’ve gotta get some clarification on what and why they’re doing this. Asap.
They put the puzzling cartel chips at week 18 and 20 which already made them worthless for mains so they were mainly an alt item. If anything was to happen to them most would have expected one or both of them to get moved earlier, but then they also removed the Item Upgrader?
We already have Ethereal Transmogrifier toy, Deployable Attire Rearranger, and Grand Expedition Yak are all ways that can be used to transmog in a raid with and without mounting so what is the purpose of removing the Item Upgrading? Hearthing to Dornogal and running back to raid is already more annoying than it needed to be.
Raid loggers have to be forced to leave the raid. /s
I hope Blizzard developers receive no salary for next two months, instead, get a coooooooooooool sticker for their laptop.
Surely they will just show up like 6-8 weeks in or something… right?
Right guys?
this is a fast and easy way to turn a 6/10(at best) tier to 3-4
Bosses are weird and clunky, certain specs are completely mechnically broken, there’s classes simming 600k above the median getting buffed
are you running freeware chatgpt to design 11.1 or whats going on?
ICE raid cant come soon enough
well, maybe they ll be given elsewhere, maybe not. Maybe we are stupid to believe, maybe it is maybelline
Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s clinical depression…
They have a history of lashing out at players when their egos are bruised.
“You don’t like our rework? Fine we’ll reverse it and then do nothing else for the rest of the patch”
“You don’t like our timegating? Fine we’ll remove it but we’re lowering the rewards by half”
“You don’t like dinars 4.5 months into the tier? Fine we’ll remove them completely and you can just suffer”
I would be shocked if this wasn’t added back through a different avenue, so I am not going to pull out the pitchforks quite yet. I will wait for the blue post.
You don’t just say something incredibly popular is coming back and then take it away. That would be amateur hour, baby’s first lesson of bad PR-type decision making.
Taking FOUR months to acquire them was immensely stupid.
Removing them completely is also immensely stupid.
I’m going to hope they have a solution that’s not immensely stupid we just haven’t seen yet.
Any competent leader gets a blue post, tweet, any sort of communication out asap upon hearing about this. Which they may not know yet.
I will try to be optimistic that Blizzard removed it from the renown raid track to put it somewhere else so its more accessible for m+ and delve only players.
Outright removing it would be a major L since people really want this.
That is what I am thinking. Probably like one of those four heroic/mythic dungeon type weekly quests that give heroic gear, like this week, sprinkled throughout the patch or some event 6-10 weeks in that gives one or something.

Blizz has been making some good decisions to show that they want to listen to players and modernize their content in ways that respects player time. That said, WoW’s system for loot acquisition, in particular because every tier has exceptionally-powerful items, is ash. It was hot garbage 3 expacs ago.
The dinar implementation needs to be added back in.
More mounts? Cool
Respecting the time investment of your players who just want to experience the content YOU designed for them? Much, much cooler
In a rare moment, I was right!
