Dinar wasn't it for BLP

TL:DR bonus rolls that drop guaranteed warbound are better for pure BLP with no gear progression. It was such a missed opportunity because bonus rolls are well liked it would’ve been thematic with casino raid

Let me start by saying I’m really grateful to devs for listening to community feedback and putting in a vendor for m+.

This past week we’ve been having a lot of discussion about the fairness of dinar and its flaws in its tww implementation. However, the loudest voices don’t always represent the majority opinion, so I’d like to take this time to really ask the community what your preferences are from most to least favorite, or which y’all found unacceptable among the following

  • original tww implementation - kill the exact boss to unlock m
  • shadowlands implementation - kill any m boss to upgrade to m
  • Dragonflight implementation - everyone gets m regardless
  • Tww implementation - some minimum requirement to unlock m with m+ vendor
  • modified / early announced but scrapped tww implementation - equal dinar for all except it doesn’t upgrade fully (kind of like how crafted gear is always short ilvl) except across the board

The fundamental problem with tww dinar are that the items from m raid are bis in other pillars are endgame. IMO there would be the same amount of backlash with either implementation. Now there are many in the community are upset about needing to do m12 to unlock their m+ bis for m raid.

Another social problem is the perception of inequality. This is where I think bonus rolls are the most fair alternative - folks can only get a chance at the bosses they’ve killed but we all have the exact same item. Allowing m raids a different item from the rest of the population was perceived as favoritism. For the arguments against this we all play the game but very few of us define the game as exclusively m raid.

If you bonus rolled a boss on a higher difficulty, you got better loot.

How is this much different?

I suppose, you can’t “lose.”

People don’t care about inequality, else they’d be asking for fair implementations.

They care about themselves.

i loved them. i just didnt like they had a price. half my gear i got was from bonus rolls cause without any blp i would have no luck with loot so i miss it

You had to pay for more RNG without any guarantee of returns

Every determinitive loot system we have had has been better…including Dinars

A nonzero number of people didn’t like that they basically said lfr to H was all equal while m was special

This would’ve been different because everyone gets the exact same item / usage it’s just up to them to use it compared to folks receiving different things

It objectively gives them less loot though?

I loved bonus rolls it kept me going back to kill bosses for a second chance with the two bonus rolls per week, now I kill once and done, and when we could titanforge that was good to.

If you like them you’re the only person in the world. “I’d rather have nothing than gold, why do I have to do stuff to get these useless rolls, etc” was said EVERY week they existed.

I much prefer new BLP dinars over bonus roll tokens. Guaranteed loot > gambling.

But, for future tiers, I would ask for the following regarding the dinars.

  1. They are enabled from week 1 of the season.
  2. Every 3 weeks, we can get 1 item. Max 4 dinars per season per character. A catch up is available if you missed a week (or weeks).

I still remember spending 21k gold on bonus rolls and getting nothing but ap with each during one week’s raid. That one was rough, but the times it gave my loot were good lol

It’s not really good “protection” if you can still get nothing. You are still at the mercy of Lady Luck with bonus rolls.

maybe we should just get the PTR gear vendors 1x every couple of weeks or so on retail live and they just let us pick 1 thing

yea I’m being silly, come on guys gear practically rains from the sky at this point anyway.

even me, a proud and capable delver, has a full set of hero gear at 658 and a few 675 gilded crafts.

Anyone that does anything more than me, and thats not asking much really cuz I only play a couple days per week, will have much better gear than me.

On the 13th crests and valorstones get uncapped so we can farm 678, I think might be even higher, crafted gear 24/7 should one choose to go all sweatlord no-lifer on it

Speak for yourself. A bonus roll is still just an RNG opportunity at loot you may or many not need, while a Dinar is guaranteed deterministic purchasing power to get the piece you need/want; they’re not comparable at all in my view.

I just want to remind everyone how HATED bonus rolls were, when they were around.

Because people seem to be Madela’ing this.

How would you feel if you just got X bonus rolls a week guaranteed without needing to grind for them?

Once we go back to vanilla (somehow) the game will be “good” again.

Idk why those people don’t just go play classic.

You know, the true paradise for casuals.
