One model looks as if he was sucked into the Dark Heart which leads me to believe that’s what Xal’atath wants. To replace Dimensius.
I have a feeling Xal’atath is up to something really dark
The whole campaign on K’aresh just led us to Manaforge Omega, where we ended up doing her dirty work.
Wait, So we are at a point in lore where a random goblin trinket can absorb the creature that made Sargeras go mad. Wow…
Problem is that it is very clear that she never wanted Dimensius to return. Given her furious demeanor towards Gallywix for giving the Dark Heart to the Shadowguard. It might be something she takes full advantage of but I don’t think her intention was to usurp him by sucking him up. Given that her original plan for her master was to kill him by blowing up a planet in his face.
I wouldnt call it a “goblin” trinket, at best they helped Neltharion but it was always a Deathwing creation.
Truth be told I don’t think we know the exact origins of the Dark Heart. Chromie mentions it looks like an ancient version of the Dragon Soul. But that is the closest we got. We do know that it fell into Deathwings procession and he hid it on the Forbidden Reach. Iridikron knew about it as well. How he learned about it we don’t know. But it was probably via his bargain with Xal’atath.
I know Noggenfogger claims that Deathwing made it with Goblins helping him. But it could also be the case that the Goblins just made improvements to it or something.
ok, you’re right, but still the existence of an artifact made by a half-crazy dragon that has the power to contain the highest being of the Void hierarchy makes my lore side feel dizzy.
Is this just an animation being played in model viewer, not actual footage of the raid? If so I would imagine there’s other stuff going on in the raid that makes it clearer what’s happening.
Yeah it is a death animation in the model viewer. We don’t have the ending cinematic yet.
It looks more like it was created with Narcissus in-game.

The Dark Heart began as a relic hidden away in the Forbidden Reach. We believe it was similar to the Dragon Soul. Perhaps a prototype rejected by Deathwing?
That is all we really know about the Dark Heart. And its ingame knowledge as oppose to hard lore so maybe Deathwing didnt even make it?(or whatever it originally was)
Considering Karesh’s world soul is in the Dark Heart, one would assume maybe it was something else that was in possession of the Black Empire that Deathwing got his hand on(possibly with Xal’s help) and later shaped by Neltharion into the Dark Heart.
Perhaps the very thing that N’Zoth fought Xal’atath over which led to her becoming a Dagger.
It’s totally possible Deathwing didn’t even make it, or at least not in the way we think. If K’aresh’s World Soul is connected to it, maybe it was something the Black Empire had before.
It is possible.
But what interests me is when did Neltharion seal it away in the Forbidden Reach and why didn’t he go and claim it before or during the war of the ancients? The Dragons were still active on the Dragon Isles during that time. Why did Neltharion have the Dragon Soul made if the two work very similar?
And of course how did Iridikron learn about it?
Part of me wonders if Neltharion had it sealed away because he knew of the bargain between Iridikron and Xal’atath. Like it was the last thing he did as a protector of Azeroth before being fully consumed by N’zoths whispers.
Regardless we still don’t know what exactly she wanted the Dark Heart for in the first place. Some people will just say “power” and call it good but power itself is a means to an end what exactly does she hope to accomplish with said power if not to become a void lord herself?
To be honest this is a problem that Blizzard clearly has not learned from. Which is “wait and see”. I am of the opinion that whatever Xal’ataths plan is, Dimensius being resurrected was not part of it. Given her reaction to Gallywix “giving” the Dark Heart to the Shadowguard. Now would she capitalize on him being defeated and seemly being forced into the Dark Heart? Absolutely. In fact I prefer that as I love manipulators that can twist something unexpected or unplanned for to their advantage. The problem is that we don’t know exactly what her scheme is. I’m sure the Midnight reveal will explain what it is, but I wish there were hints towards that in TWW. Because all it seems to be is “drain power from X source into macguffin”. Those sources being Galakronds corpse (Dawn of the Infinite), Dalaran (TWW intro) and Voided Beladar (TWW 11.0 max level campaign).
I also hope that Alleria damaging the Dark Heart wasn’t something Xal’atath secretly wanted. Have it be a set back she did not plan for. Which again reinforces her anger towards Gallywix who did fix it but wanted to keep it for himself. As that is what led to it being stolen by the Shadowguard. I do not want another villain where they go “ah yes, this obvious setback was what I was actually planning for” like we had with Zovaal.
i mean so far alleria hasen’t actually been much help given she as spent the entire campaign being played by the void cause she draws from it.
what creature is this now? from eredar to nathrezim is it dimensius now?
This is an angle that could be interesting. We clearly know that the Void is not a united force for the most part. It is implied that Dimensius fought, defeated and consumed two of his fellow Void Lords at some point. According to the dungeon journal on the PTR, he even summons them as part of his encounter. We had the Old Gods playing Age of Empires against each other. Which may or may not have distracted them from their intended duty. Hell Dimensius seeking a World Soul to devour goes against the Old God scheme in the first place. Therefore it could be possible that some actors within the Void wanted Alleria to undermine Xal’atath and supported her in that regard in some shape or form.
Part of me wonders if this angle is why quite a few people (including myself) wants N’zoth to be still around via the empty Blade of the Black Empire. He could play a role of an enemy but also an ally. Which Blizzard tried to do with him in BFA when it came to warning us about Zovaal.
