Hey folks! I’ve been playing Rogues since Cata and I can say I’ve never had this type of difficulty questing before. I can’t down a mob myself yet I see everyone else grab 2-4 no problem. Is it just Sub ? What is the issue ?? I am in dear need of advice because at this point I’d rather quit than keep doing dying to a single Daily every day.
Damn, every rogue thread these days seems to start this way.
And yeah, it’s a new expansion. You’ve lost borrowed power. You’ve lost secondary scaling. Your strength in comparison to the open world has perhaps never been more meager. Rogues currently have the worst survivability in the game. Shadowlands monsters hit significantly harder, as a proportion of your health, than any enemies I can remember since Classic. This is a bad combination for us.
But you shouldn’t be dying. I can easily pull 4-5 mobs and erase them all with Subt or Outlaw burst AoE. I’ll be half-dead afterwards, but we have the damage. Use your evasion, use your impressively large CC potential (sap, blind, kidney etc). It looks like you’re Subtlety and running Soothing Darkness for some juicy heals in Shadowdance and stealth to compliment your Crimson Vial. That should be sufficient.
I dislike it when forum denizens arrogantly dismiss these types of posts with “git gud” but this does seem to be a player issue. You’re certainly not alone in struggling as a solo rogue right now. Half the posts on the forums these days are rogues saying they can’t solo Torghast when literally every other class can. The struggle is real. But quitting at the first sign of adversity is a bad look, and if you literally “Cannot down a mob yourself” that’s a you problem, my dude. Not a rogue problem.

This is a good point.
The key to playing Rogue the old school way and now with systemlands is layering CC and using your CDs properly.
As a Rogue you have to be aggressive using CDs in most PVE solo situations because that is how the class is designed. If you are not using CC and defensives as they come off CD you are losing out big time.
Vanish is your get out of jail card so you should be more aggressive using Blind, Evasion, Feint, and Crimson Vial.
Holding offensive cool downs for the perfect time is fine in instanced PVE/PVP situations. But when solo? Let loose.
Embrace the glass cannon if you know what you are doing.
