Different EXOTIC pets make a difference in DPS?

I always wonder why some bm hunters have crazy DPS with specific pets.

I summon my exotic pets and they worst than a wet noodle.
They hit like a cat without the claws.

What pets are you talking about.i basically use 2 pets,clefhoof and carrion bird,well those are my favs,and I do good dps

Spirits or ferocity ones.

All pets deal the same damage (Worms and Chimaeras excepted, because their exotic abilities are actually a DPS loss), they just have different utility. Core Hound might do a tiny bit more than average if it’s being hit due to the thorns effect on Molten Hide, but that’s it.

Pet damage is normalized. All pets to the same base damage. The only difference regular and exotic pets is that exotics have and extra support skill. There may possibly be a tiny DPS benefit to some of them, aqir might switch targets a fraction of a second faster, corehound might do some thorns damage if it gets hit, etc, but any theoretical increase is minuscule to the point of being non-existent.
