So I don’t touch my Evoker often, but is there a difference between Soar and a DR mount? Or is it just a race fantasy thing?
Regular dragon riding has an advantage still. Soar gives all the same flying abilities (and it is very fun to soar) but landing automatically dismounts you, which can be annoying if you land near enemies. The cast also has a very small cooldown of ten seconds, which begins its cooldown as soon as you cast it now. Meaning you can fly for just ten seconds, land, and already be able to take off again. Not a long cooldown by any means…but of course regular dragon riding has no cooldown at all.
All told, it’s not a good choice for farming ore or flowers or anything really but is still super fun and fulfilling. Darting around like an arrow on the smallest flying “mount” in the game is just an incredible experience.
Thank you very much!
Soar automatically ascends into the air which saves you an entire vigor. It is the better option for any air travel longer than 10 seconds.
Soar has the advantage of not spending 1 vigor when you take flight.
Yes.
Soar has a 10 second cooldown (from when you start) and it still cancels when you land. So you can’t use it as a ground mount. You also instantly launch into the air when you use it.
Once you’re in the air, it’s the same thing.
Because you can’t land, using Bronze Timelock (if you were one of the four people who ever used that) is almost impossible.
You can use it if your timing is immaculate and you press it at the exact right moment as you land. The portal will persist once you’ve landed, and you can activate it again the next time you take flight, so you can teleport back to it like bronze timelock is supposed to work.
Its also much easier to maneuver a dracthyr than a proto drake. Being so small we can zip and twirl around with much more ease. No smashing into trees and crap
soar isn’t actually any more maneuverable than any of the dragonriding mounts, nor is its hitbox any different.
I didn’t say it was different I said it was easier because the mount is much smaller. This is what is commonly called “an opinion”.
So what you mean to say is not that it maneuvers better, but it is visually easier to judge your collision radius. Difference between what you say being presented as a fact instead of an opinion.
Using ‘we’ (your opinion would be ‘i find that’ or ‘it feels like’) with definitive statements like ‘much easier’ and ‘much more ease’ are interesting ways to communicate ‘opinions’.
Being my own flying mount has been very satisfying. True we can’t use bronze time lock/return, but to be honest I never saw the need and simply forgot about it.
I also believe some dragon riding features will remain in dragonflight. Bronze time lock feels like it’ll only be for dragonflight.
Can’t seem to do the dragon racing with it unfortunately either.
My bad. When I said we I meant dracthyr not players but I guess one doesn’t exist without the other so replace we with I in everything I said before.
Don’t feed the trolls, Ela. A 5-year-old would have had no trouble understanding you, but people with a 5-year-old’s brain love nitpicking for no reason.
Yeah… I really wish we could dragon race with Soar.
No, no, don’t apologize. Your point was very clearly made.
