Hey I was tanking BFD , died right before we killed the boss and I didn’t get xp from the boss. The last boss of BFD. Everyone else got xp though.
Am I screwed?

Why would you do a thing like that?
It’s almost like it should have been a repeatable quest to kill Akumai instead of just exp from the bosses.
Shouldnt of gotten carried through all those gdkps.
3k exp on a 3(7?) day lockout timer won’t make a dent in the long run
You’ll never financially recover from this
better reroll, you just bricked your toon
Last I checked, yes that’s how it works. You can’t experience things anymore when you’re dead.
Struggling with a tough foe? Remember, just keep your Health above 0 while lowering your enemy’s Health to 0. Works every time!
Even if that is the case you gain about 3 bars per day rested. So having I think ~28k exp each 3 days will mean good leveling in the long term. Not even counting dungeon quests which there will be alot of dungeon leveling.
^ this.
Missing a single boss kill and the 3k exp in one 3 day lock out isn’t going to be the end of the world.
Think of it this way, back in classic this never existed and people got by just fine. You’ll be ok bud.
Still seems like an oversight, and feels bad to lose the XP equivalent of handing in a quest due to poor heals or bad luck. As mentioned by others, making it a repeatable quest would have mitigated this.
Imagine finishing DM and not being able to loot VC’s head if you died in the encounter.
You’ve never received xp from mobs that die after you are dead, so I’m not sure why people are surprised.
VC’s head is loot which you still receive even if dead, these are not remotely similar.
What would the quest be? Kill every boss in BFD and get a gazillion xp?
What if you missed a boss or had to leave early or arrive late? Then those people miss out and not only that but it screws the whole reset.
At least they still got experience for 6/7 bosses, and again it’s not the end of the world. It’s only 3k, it’s less than the P1 supply crates now.
There shouldn’t need to be any more fixing or messing with the system just to make it better for a niche case incident of trivial consequence. The bosses give experience, be thankful. They usually wouldn’t.
I’m not disputing it’s consistent with current game mechanics, I’m just pointing out that it feels bad. Really, what does the game or the player gain by making you miss out an XP burst if you die to the boss? When they instead could have implemented a scourgestone-esque system where every boss drops a stackable token that can be traded in for the same XP?
Did my BFD in P2 and I already see the major issues. Healers will keep themselves alive at the cost of everyone else in the group so they can get the xp off Kelris. Tanks no longer want to solo tank sacrifice no cleanse on Aku’mai so they won’t die and miss out on the xp.
Even worse, is to see 1 person die during the Kelris fight, and then the group calls for a wipe because someone’s friend is going to miss out on xp.
Is dying supposed to feel good?
You haven’t fought Warlocks…
easily fixed- don’t die. skill issue.
If you get the tag on a quest mob, you die, and your group kills it - you get the credit.
If you get the tag on a dungeon boss, you die, and your group kills it - you get to roll on the loot.
XP admittedly never worked like this but you also never received a big XP boost for killing a boss through a coordinated effort.
