I know that HC means you die and you’re done, but I feel like there should be appeals for disconnecting on a flight path. My character flew from Menethil to Stormwind and AS SOON as I hit the wall going into Stormwind I was immediately disconnected. Logged back in and my character is in free fall and landed 2 feet from the water right inside the gates.
I don’t mind losing characters to pulling too many mobs, a disconnect out in the world, falling, or anything else like that, but dying while using a “safe” feature in the game is wild.
You’re right. I shouldn’t walk away from my PC to go to the bathroom while on a flight path because it could be more dangerous than mobs I fight. Thanks for the advice.
I actually had my first HC dc last night. It was just after I hopped on a flight from Moonglade. I was worried what would happen when I logged back in, but it was OK.
IDK how I’d feel if my toon had died. I had already had a silly death earlier in the day and was barely at level 11 from the reroll.
One thing I’ve learned from HC so far is that I die a lot.
ITT OP who doesn’t realize that if they make a loophole for this literally everyone who dies is going to submit appeal claiming they fell hoping to game the system. And then triple down on the whining and crying trying to create new loopholes to exploit.
I appreciate your assumptions about my intelligence. I still think it’s BS to die to a “safe” in-game mechanic and something should be done to either rectify deaths like this or fix the flight path issues. Until this bug is finally fixed then I feel like these deaths should be reverted with proper evidence showing that they were on a FP when they disconnected and died.
The bug disconnects you and you fall to your death while disconnected.
I mean, we all know you’re a super-1337 player with a mobile hotspot, but even a god amongst men such as yourself might not be able to recover from that.
The dc issue happens on blizzards end as well so its not like you getting a dc is always your fault. Is literally so many clips of people dcing from stuff like holding space bar while swimming up, dc from changing directions to fast like when pshero died on boat in stv pulling mobs and running up the stairs, or the bug where you dc if you get hit by cc while jumping.
These things might be annoying but at least its not as bad as literally dying on a flight path lol. This also seems like a muvh simpler fix as they could just make you go back to the last flight point or even back to the start should you dc mid flight.
My question is has anyone just dismounted without a dc? As a priest at least if i dc while getting a drink i know to have levitate rdy.
If that ever happens id join in and laugh at that person as that is 100% on the player especially since you are a engi and can make parachute cloak lol
It has happened to me before. It’s stupid rare though. I think in WotLK classic I got a DC between IF and SW and ended up falling to my death in searing gorge.

As far as HC DC goes…? I’m sure they happen but these forums seem to indicate it happens ALL the time. Knock on wood I haven’t seen it yet and I play 6 toons from 12 to 36 across both continents.
Its def super rare ive been playing since vanilla and never had it happen. It just seems like they should be able to make fixes that would put in some kind of protection to put you back to a safe place should you dc. I dont think many would complain about losing 2 mins time from being put back 1 flight point considering the possible alternative.
Oh yeah 1000% they should have protection about this kind of thing. Easy to check on login if you’re falling and you recently took a flight path = automagic return to last used flight path.
Talking of super rare bugs GM of my wotlk guild hasnt been able to log into his main for over a month now because he died in a eye of the storm from a rogue right as the bg ended and it didnt transfer his character back to the main server from bg server. So now hes stuck in the void and the best answer they have for him is hopefully when icc patch comes out it fixes itself.
Dude didnt know his mage got switched to hard core on a non hard core server.
