Didn't play DF, so now this account can't fly before level 61...WTF?

I didn’t play DF on my second account, but have several 60 or lower characters. However, they can’t fly ANYWHERE. I did level warlock to 61 and flying unlocked but WTF with not being able to fly in any content under 61???

You can try going to Collections/Mounts and toggling Sky-riding to Steady Flying.

No toggle button there ;(

Oh wow. Good luck getting them to fix that!

BlizZard doesn’t know how to do easy wins but they turn them into big L’s rather easily.

I am sure it is bug…right? Right?

Maybe this patch needed more time to cook? :woman_cook:

And now, tada!, suddenly even my 61+ characters can’t fly. This nonsense is out of hand. This expac has really screwed things up on many fronts. Well done, Blizz…

didnt they fix it?

I dont believe you. Flying is learned at level 10 for EVERYONE. DF or not. Swapping is learned at 20 FOR EVERYONE df or not.

Then don’t believe me and play on. Fact is, flying is bugging on my veteran account. There are times when 61+ can fly in DI, but no other chars can anywhere. Lost flying when I partied up with another character, but got it back after leaving party and changing mount. So it’s bugged. Or if this is ‘working as intended,’ then just lousy gameplay design.

Blizz is aware of the bug.

not sure that it’s a bug… it’s expected that people do the DF starter quests.

Yeah a “bug”.

OP stated their characters under 60 can’t fly. Also, characters can fly at level 10 with the pre patch. It’s a bug.

a bug which just magically fixes itself when people get to a certain part of the storyline… doesn’t sound like a bug.

Okay, then please walk the OP through on how their characters under level 60 can learn to fly.

Try rolling a Timerunner for Remix Pandaria. Yes, there is an issue or two with quests becoming bugged since the latest patch but way before you get there you are sent to a trainer that will teach you basic Skyriding and give you a dragon to ride. If all work well you could be flying in half an hour and once the first character everyone can, pretty much.

I’m still not entirely convinced the OP is fully aware of what’s going on here (with all due respect). At the top of your mount list on your collection page, is there the word “Skyriding” followed by a box with a picture of a dragon that is a dropdown box? In that dropdown box, are there two options? One says “Skills and Unlocks” and the other says “Switch Flight Style?”

Just to make sure we’re all on the same page with your question, “Switch Flight Style” is the toggle skill that switches between old flying and the new state. If this skill is in “Skyriding” mode versus “Steady Flying” (old style), then flying will work a bit differently. So for starters, have you dragged the “Switch Flight Style” skill button out onto your bar and tried casting it? Once you’re in “Steady Flying” mode, things should work the same way they used to. If you’re in “Skyriding” mode, then flight will work a lot differently, and you’ll need one of the new Skyriding skills to actually take flight, and then you’ll need to use other skills to maintain it. (This dynamic flying is a LOT faster, and generally a lot more fun once you’re used to it. You’ll certainly get around a lot quicker.)

let’s start at the beginning.

what do you mean when you say “fly”.

are you unable to access skyriding?
…or are you unable access regular old flight?
which riding abilities are “learned” in your spellbook?
(on any of the characters which can’t “fly”)
