Most of my failed naval missions result in the log showing that my vessels were destroyed. But in reality, they don’t get deleted because Blizz deleted that mechanic a while back. But on occasion, one of my sunk vessels will actually really delete themselves and i’ll be forced to create a new one at the shipyard. What gives?
You guys are still running ship missions? I stopped that nonsense as soon as I got the last achievement from it.
Yea, that’s what i’m farming for ATM
I vaguely recall Blizz changing it so that missions with 90%+ success chance won’t destroy your ships, even if you fail the mission. Below 90%, there’s only a chance that ships will be destroyed, with that chance increasing as your success chance decreases.
That makes sense. I was wondering about that too.
I am only doing it now to get the rings and achievements on this account.
So I started using my shipyard again after reading this topic, and I want to confirm, I had a 92% fail and it sunk both my ships but it didn’t actually delete them. Thanks for the heads up
Are you really trying to still get that cheesy heirloom ring??? They squished it… it’s pretty worthless now. Come back to Ironforge… we’ll find you a new expansion that isn’t ancient to play!
No. I’m working on the Admiral achieve.
I remember during WoD, when legion pre patch was coming soon, I would always set alarm clocks on my phone every time my shipyard mission was completed via remote control, while I was either at work (Target way back in the day) or elsewhere so I always made my PC kept on
Because I was making sure I get all my legendary rings before they were removed
I even did it for pre Shadowlands event
I wanted this bag so I made sure I got the kill the moment he spawned
Even if he spawned at 3 am I would set my alarm, get up, kill the rare and hope it dropped and if not, set next alarm and go back to sleep
im sorry but those 3 little cartwheeling people totally made me think of soemthing i once heard…
On the topic i never knew they made changes to boats dying, i used to think that was a stupid “mechanic”, partly why i ended up having so much oil i was quite worried about seeing a US navy carrier group appear offshore coming for my “WMD’s”! I never got that ring either i dont think, i will have to go back and see some time
I still run them on a few of my guys. I rather enjoy them but I will double check if I lose ships when they fail at their duties.
The issue was that they designed the player’s intro to the system so that fairly early on there was a mission that supposedly had a very high probability of success, but actually was going to fail 100% of the time. And you would lose the ship and all the work you put into it.
For a lot of people that was the last time they used the shipyard. Putting rigged mechanics to teach the player a lesson feels blatantly manipulative. People will give up permanently on some content over something like that.
I never heard that they changed it. I never used a single shipyard after opening Tanaan Jungle.
I can think of several other times I stopped doing content after something like that. At least two of them were later changed, so I couldn’t have been the only one.
Yup I am the same way.
It is why none of my Covenant Mission guys ever leveled to max. From feedback on the forums – it was reported that things like the pet charm missions change or go away if you level up and do the campaign. So I’m still doing the level 12 and 14 missions.
There are people in my guild still spending time in ZM now to get the pets and mounts. I managed to get enough gear to get started in to M+ in Season 3 and then I quit going.
Now that I think of it, there was a tremendous amount of stuff put into SL that I have never bothered with. Or that I tried once and then tried to avoid completely or skip. (Just noticed my Priest dinged 59 today and still has the entry level SL quest in her log. Probably level to 60 and never touch SL.)
