So a lot of this is Greek to me. Are you all chatting about the efficacy of fire in general game play or in the M+ raids? Thanks. Newbie to these forums!
In Dragonflight, Fire was basically a lock-in for high M+ keys, because our niche was good priority target damage with respectable passive AoE cleave. Basically our Mastery applies a stacking dot that does a portion of the initial damage of every spell over 9-10 seconds. Whenever you hit Fireblast - which is always - it spreads that dot to nearby enemies. So you could run a mostly-single target build, pump damage into a particularly dangerous mob, and a chunk of all your damage would passively spread to everything around it.
For various reasons, in this expansion, our single target damage took a pretty significant hit. This in turn made our niche less desirable. In raid, there are a good number of moments that are mostly single target, which also makes our spread capability pretty useless.
As of this coming Tuesday weâre set to get a pretty big buff, which should shake things up a bit. Sunfury - which is currently the better hero spec by a considerable margin - is set to get a ~7% ST buff. Frostfire is set to get something like a 20% buff (yes, itâs that bad right now for PvE content). Both should finally be competitive with each other.
Gameplay-wise, Fire is still super fun. The only sticking point really is that Flamestrike - our main AoE ability - is still reticle-based, and you canât macro it to cast on your target. As of Dragonflight it now contributes to our Hot Streak mechanic, which basically just means youâre instant-cast spamming it while alternating other spells during your main cooldown, which is super clunky/awkward because you have to aim your cursor (also with a macro - truly unplayable otherwise) while trying to move and do mechanics. Have to use your keyboard to move/shuffle because your mouse is fully occupied. (Weâre also now running out of mana, which is a whole other issue, since mana isnât supposed to be a real resource for Fire.)
Other than that itâs still a fast-paced, mobile, and satisfying spec - really our damage was the only issue (to me at least).
Thank you! You explanation is just what I needed.
Itâs most definitely not. Arcane CONTINUES to get nerfed for very specific reasons.
No, this is wrong on a few levels.
First, arcane hasnât been nerfed all that recently. the last nerf was devastating, but was before MDI. In contrast Fire just had pyroblast buffed, literally this week
Second, the data does not line up with your statement. it seems like youâre not looking at hard data and instead are just going by anecdotal experiences. show your work and perhaps I will respect your opinion more.
Yes, the primalist totems were literally right there for them to just rehash.
