Usually, I’m the kind of player who will take their time with story content. Especially in the case of beautifully voice acted content with scripted interactions and story moments, like what we have with the two new zones.
Except I’m not here for that. I’m here to fill up that rep bar.
Hi, oh, you’re from an ancient civilization long thought lost under the sea? K. Just tell me what highlighted thing I need to right-click on.
Neat, this gnome has funny hair. Cya, I’ve got to spam this quest item in that highlighted place on my minimap over there.
<Azeroth Auto Pilot has automatically skipped a cutscene>
Who are you? Why am I here? Who knows! Halfway to revered!
This feels bad.
I would love to slow down and take in the quests, like the way I’m used to, but since content is serialized out on a day-by-day schedule, I feel like I have to complete all the activities each day, and with only a couple hours a day to play, you’ve got to pick your battles.
There are other things I’d like to do in BFA, but all of it is made easier with flying (e.g., world PVP, gathering crafting materials, completing incursions). So every moment I’m not grinding rep for the new factions is essentially a moment I’m wasting since it takes me, essentially, twice as long as it would with flying.
I’ve heard a lot of complaints about Pathfinder here, but missing out on story content due to questing efficiency isn’t one I’ve seen discussed.
no need to rush, there really wasn’t that much content.
The story and cutscenes have been alright, but feel almost cookie cutter at this point. bad guy, does bad things, can kill us all but doesnt, then we win.
The main story of the new areas is new grinds and that’s about it.
This is exactly what happened to me in Nazjatar and Mechagon. Then, when I had no idea how things in Mechagon work because I didn’t read the quest text, I ended up missing out on more sources of rep anyway.
I’m glad to hear it’s possible, but I’m surprised to hear you’re flying already.
There were these quests in Nazjatar where we were revisiting the memories of somebody (not sure who), and the quest would be marked complete as soon as I started the dialogue, and since I looked at the clock and saw that I’ve only got 30 more minutes to play before I’ve got to get off to do things, I just left and went to the next quest.
I rushed on my hunter but then I come back and read it all carefully and take my time on my mage.
btw…I do this while leveling too. I try to rush one alt up to level and then come back on another to pay more attention to the story.
But that didn’t work out so well in Legion with all the unique stories for each class. Still never did all the classes to see all of that story.
There wasn’t that much story content to be honest. I read all the quest text/watched all the cutscenes and still rushed to Pathfinder Pt2.
I do wish that there wasn’t a DAILY rep gate. I would much rather have the whole week to get this stuff done without falling behind on rep/not making as much progress as I could. Some days I have more time to play, some days I have left, so I would love to be able to divide up the rep gains based on my schedule.
I know, I know, Blizz gotta get those daily time played metrics up.
I was hoping for a Suramar-eqsue experience with Nazjatar but I got Broken Shore 2.0. Argus, as much as I hated it, had more story than Nazjatar.
Don’t feel bad OP. You didn’t miss anything story-wise. The mere fact that Big Bad Azshara is holding back the waves until we cease to amuse her is the most laughable dialogue from an expac with some pretty terrible writing.
Admittedly, I usually rush my main through, then ‘enjoy’ the story/content on an alt. Issue is… alts are equally a pain in the butt now because of azerite essences.
So sick of everything having a grind or cost attached to it.
Want all your abilities unlocked? Waste a bunch of time grinding meaningless content.
Want to respec your azerite gear that could take months to earn…? That’s going to cost you.
