Did you guys like the new Lord of the Rings show?

Please note the word “fellow”.

Its not in the books that is the main issue.

They only apparently have rights to the hobbit, the LoTR and the appendices. So its basically fan fiction and some lore where they can use it.

The Battlestar Galactica reboot was great, and Starbuck being male or female, did not change the story significantly. My only issue with BSG is that it is all just a big statement about religion (Mormon mostly).

Yep, they are making most of the stuff up, since they do not have the rights to the Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales.

I still don’t understand why though. What do you mean by how it was received? People didn’t like it so you’ll never watch it? I’m so confused.

Yep, by not allowing user reviews on Prime and other review sites (mysteriously) deleting negative reviews.

It’s good (not great) so far, and I’m hoping it gets better as the story gets fleshed out. It’s got lots of potential - you just have to check your expectations and not compare it to the movies.

Not true, this is an over-simplification that is designed to make people who use the word “woke” seem like unintelligent bigots and make people like yourself feel morally superior.

Most people who you disagree with, ARE aware that there are people who do not fit cultural norms and that there are people who are not white who are equally “valuable”, the problem is the constant need for some people to want everyone to agree with their view of reality and celebrate their lifestyle choices, when they have not done anything that is worth celebrating and then vilify anyone who does not.

Don’t they realize that in Peter Jackson’s trilogy and the books, the Haradrim and Easterlings are not white? POC in the LOTR have been in the lore for ages.

It definitely could be considered to be as much about religion and mythology as it is science fiction. With the cylon baby ending up as Lucy, it’s almost a completely new creation myth.

But I thought it was more a mix of everything. Greek goods, Judaism with the thirteen colonies / thirteen tribes and it being an allusion of the exodus story. And even to Christianity with head Six and head Gaius loosely coming off as christian angels. Not sure where the Mormon influence is showing though.

In fact Laura could be seen as the Mosses figure. She’s the one that sees the burning bush and has the visions that lead the survivors to the promised land.

Maybe it’s Olorin or Mithrandir.

I already told you, but I can’t understand it for you.

Yeah, I loved WoW because it felt like LOTR had a baby with D&D.

By a mile!

I hear House of the Dragon has Matt Smith. Just curious, is he there with Amelia Pond or Clara Oswald?

Ah, yes, indeed. My oversight. Apologies.

it’s been like what 2 episodes?

I even hated the original LoTR.

You got this all powerful wizard.

Wizard.

But the only magical thing he does in the entire series is run down a mountain and shine a light that does 0 damage and healing blinding his own homies right before they save the day.

The only good thing about LoTR was Shadows of Mordor games, but that was purely because of the gameplay.

Everything about LoTR is just Romantic Fantasy novels for obese nerd virgins.

It’s Star Trek with Orcs. It’s a high budget LARP re-enactment with Frodo as the rich kid that gets to tell everyone what to do and cant be killed. Because his mom supplies the gatorade and lunchables.

Everyone who has ever touched grass/female body parts knows Star Wars > Star Trek.

You didn’t explain it well enough, but I also no longer care, so I’ll let it go. :v:
