So I checked my email yesterday and saw one from Blizzard with a date of Sept. 23rd.
Only it was for Diablo 2. And the date was Sept.
First I got faked out, thinking it was a WoW related email.
Then I got bummed out it a date in Sept.
Then I realized it was for D2 and I realize Blizzard cares more about cashing in on nostalgia right now than taking care of players who bought their new expansion and play their modern stuff.
Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy WoW.
But I also can’t help feel like we are being pushed to the back of the line, again, while they make bank off people trying to recapture a better time in their gaming lives.

I mean if people are going to pay for old games then I don’t blame Blizz for taking advantage of that.

You realize they can announce the release date a week before it comes out right? Why are you getting so offended by another game’s date that was announced at E3?
i didn’t know people paid attention to those emails
Ehh my mind can’t go there because I’m pretty sure a completely different set of people work on the Diablo series.
That’s fine if people wanna buy these remakes, but modern WoW is feeling a bit neglected imo and this is just another reminder of that as we are still waiting on a 9.1 release date.
We are to blame as much as Blizz. If they see us buying and playing old games, they will sell them and I’m sure it takes less effort to touch up an already existing game and re-release it then it does to make a current or future one better.
Exhibit A, retail vs classic. They changed the game so much over the years that alot of the old school MMO people don’t like it anymore. Rather then listen and improve the current game so it appeals to more then one style of audience, they just re-release old games with “Deluxe Editions” and “Boosts”. Money > Game Quality.
Yeah, it’s definitely a different team. But I meant more of Blizzard as a whole.
D4 is still vaporware in my mind.
SL 9.1 is coming eventually?
Meanwhile TBC Classic and Diablo 2 remake are all over the launcher while the modern games are left hanging.
They even kinda bailed on D3 early, but still expect people to grind seasons for who knows how long until D4 makes an appearance.
Also the WC3 Reforged debacle has left a bad taste in my mouth as they took a beloved game and jobbed it out to some random company.
D2:R isn’t being made by the WoW team and therefore D2:R development has nothing to do with WoW’s issues.
I never played D2 but I’m kinda looking forward to giving D2:R a try.
Counterpoint: Would Blizz even be here without the success of those earlier games?
LOL D2:R requires resources from Blizz
Blizz’s only game with a steady income is WoW
D2:R was directly developed with resources generated by WoW, and the WoW team can no longer utilize those resources
Do you see why your take is terrible?
I doubt it, mostly because you can’t seem to understand that EVERY OTHER site besides reddit double spaces your text when you hit enter twice.
What does this have to do with anything?

It’s about as nonsensical as the rest of their post, so that tracks
Because opportunity cost, as a concept, is more difficult to understand than only one website requires you to hit enter twice to advance text to the next line.
I played enough D2, i played enough TBC. Where is D4? Where is 9.1?
I do. Did you SEE the last remaster they did?

Yeah that was pretty embarrassing lol.
How dare they use their other platforms on their portfolio to make money that doesn’t involve with WoW, for the purpose of a for profit company, the nerve!
Didn’t get it. Wouldn’t get bummed out if I did though. It just be deleted like all marketing emails. Nothing against Blizzard. I unsubscribe from and delete all marketing emails.
My post was more WoW adjacent and a reflection on Blizzard as a whole.
D2:R and TBCC are clear priorities while SL still doesn’t have a date for the first full patch.
Probably not, but taking the easy out and cashing in your nostalgia punch card for a free pass with the investors doesn’t make me feel like Shadowlands is any kind of priority since they already got their box fees and record breaking sales.
When it feels like they are doing at the expense of those of us who already paid for a product and pay a monthly fee to access said product, it feels bad.
But you’re the resident MHP who defends every single thing Blizzard does as part of your sad act.
