The people on here who argue in support of Sylvanas in the cinematics flip the script when it was Tyrande?
Every excuse given for Sylvanas over Saurfang and now the Lich King could have been used for Tyrande.
For some reason the Sylvanas fanbois don’t hold the same opinion when its Nathanos over Tyrande.
Nathanos got to put up a good fight (heck he won) but Saurfang and the Lich King have to be one -shotted.
In the end all 3 stories would have been a lot better if:
Sylvanas was forced to “win” the same way Tyrande was (not really)
Sylvanas power ups were shown the same way Tyrande’s was
Sylvanas opponents put up the same kinda fight that Tyrande’s did.
This is why some of us don’t like the story telling. Its completely one sided towards Sylvans fanbois and screw everyone else.
Though it didnt make sense, Nathan “winning” was needed for the narrative. As was saltyfang and bolvar losing.
The narrative that was needed for Nathan was more bit parts in the warcampagin and to bring us to Nazjatar. Sylvanas could have done that her self, but they wanted nathan. Also Night elves got the last laugh as both warfronts are canon alliance victories now (seriously horde got utterly wrecked in this war).
The narrative for saltyfang and bolvar was to show just how power Sylvanas has been made by this new boss of hers.
I wouldn’t call either fight a oneshot. Salty fang gave her a run for her money and even forced her to reveal her hand to soon. I will say bolvar seemed rather underpowered or like he wasnt trying, but he gave a decent fight.
I think the root cause of this whole Sylvanas issue is simply bad writing and character development at Blizz.
Blizz think that she is an awesome, super-inventive and well loved villain similar to Heath Ledger’s version of the Joker from the Dark Knight. They fall far short of this and what we are left with is an overpowered supervillain that uses cheat codes and was given the game script ahead of time.
It really is a shame. The faction war could have been really good and Sylvanas with her significant character history pre-BfA could have been a villain for the ages had Blizz done this right.
I mean, yeah I have to agree because Nathanos isn’t really supposed to be all that strong compared to the other three characters we’re considering here.
As for the whole flipping the script bit? I dunno if people really are doing that, but if you catch them doing it yeah that makes them a bit weird.
I’m not sure I’ll ever understand why people think he won. He was forced to flee after losing the Val’kyr. The Night Elves retook Darkshore(they confirmed this in the Q&A). But Nathanos won?
I believe he’s talking about the manner in which a character wins or loses when he’s talking about the two different situations here. Sure Nathanos did ultimately lose, but considering the power level of the characters in question vs him he didn’t really lose like he should have is what he’s saying I’m guessing.
Sylvanas in comparison took down the new lich king rather easily.
Saurfang was an old man who was hit by a powerful blast of death magic. Bolvar was hard CC’d and had his helmet taken off his head. the two are very different circumstances and had 2 very different endings.
