I once based a character name off a friend.

It was not a compliment and they were offended when they found themselves grouped, with themselves.

I told them, now you know how the rest of us feel.

Stop being a jackhole.

On this character, I use the ‘Chef’ title, inspired by that glorious chef on informercials in the 90s-00s, Chef Tony.

We don’t talk about it.

I used to have /yell macros connected to my monk abilities that would yell the name of the Street Fighter ability it resembled. But people got annoyed lol

Phlynch’s backstory is partially stolen from one of the WoW short stories on the website. He was a petty thief trying to feed himself until he picked a Farstrider’s pocket and got conscripted.

I ran a random dungeon with Luxuria… didn’t even know we had Man’ari customizations until I saw her in a dungeon… spent the next few hours unlocking them… then made this character… first dungeon after hitting level 11, ended up in a group with her again… she totally never noticed me.

So you’re saying you’re on the market for a new senpai~~

When i first started, i used to base my characters on my favorite main characters.
My undead death knight by Arthas, my demon hunter by Illidan, my druid Malfurion, and my belf lock by Kael’thas.

These days its a lot harder cos i try to base my character on… something that doesn’t even exist in WoW.

my very first character was in 2007, a Paladin. His name is Scorpinator which was a combo of my 2 favorite Predicons from Beast Wars: Transformers. Scorpinock and Waspinator

I have a Worgen Hunter that I haven’t touched in a very long time that I bassed on a character from Simon R Green’s Nightside novel series. She’s the badest, scariest bounty hunter in all the Nightside named Shotgun Suzie. In the books Suzie has an accelerated healing ability from werewolf blood getting into fresh wounds. I thought a Worgen would be a great fit for the character.

Not me. Minotaur was unique and male.

AFAIK, no other game has a female cow humanoid. I just fell in love with tauren because they’re a monster race.

I have one character that wise cracks.

One that is slightly innocently aggressively mischievous in an adorable and acceptable fashion.

One this is simply Kind.

A filthy rogue that doesn’t talk. he just looks like trouble idle.

All of my characters are based on something.

My Druid is my childhood nickname
My priest is from a movie
My evoker is from a movie
My pally was made when I was going through a sad time so I picked a super silly name that makes me smile
My rogue is a play on words that I literally giggled at making
My hunter is a dwarf and I picked something that reminded me of dwarf things
Same as my monk
I made another monk after a guildie’s goofy name for the lol’s

I have never used the random name generator. Every name was hand picked with love and giggles.

On the EU side my main during WoD and Legion was a dwarven shaman called Kittenbeard (because imagine how cute a dwarf would be if they had kittens in their beard, and also dwarf names should include ‘beard’). Over here on the US side I choose the name “Shadykitten” for this warlock (Shadowbolt + Kitten, except Shady because warlocks do be shady). After a transfer and due to knowing some folks found the name “kitten” to be awkward I changed it to “Shadybolt” (Shady + Shadowbolt).

But my otherwise regularly used name online is something else entirely.

My very first character, this one actually (she’s been server moved and renamed since mid Wrath), was based loosely upon an RP character outside of WoW. The idea was that she planestravelled and wound up on Azeroth and playing WoW was her adventures there, because someone invited me to an RP server saying that I should go and RP with them, which didn’t really ever end up happening.

So years later after shelving the character (since Paladins were so unfun to play in Vanilla and in TBC), I rezzed her during Wrath (she was Level 41 at the time) and got her up to 80 so she could do Wrath and she became my main after that, at least until the past couple expansions where I’ve been playing mostly other characters.

The name she has now is just some random name I came up with by mashing letters together until I came up with something that wasn’t already taken that ends in a vowel because she’s a woman.

This character is based on the fire druids. Phoenix seemed fitting.
