Did World of Warcraft Vanilla originally have the incubus?

It has been a very long time since I played World of Warcraft in general (I think it has been 8 years… I know) and I just came back to playing. I just started retail and classic vanilla WoW and I really like vanilla because of nostalgia. WoW is like the first mmo I ever played when I was a kid and coming back and playing WoW classic is awesome. But I logged in and I saw an Warlock with a incubus in the game and I don’t remember that being a thing back in the day? Did Warlocks have the option to either have a incubus or a succubus back then? I don’t care that the incubus is in the retail version of WoW, but if he wasn’t there in WoW’s original form why did they put him in classic then? I asked a guild member if WoW originally had an incubus and he said he thought he was crazy cause he didn’t remember WoW having one originally either. I mean the point of classic is to experience the games original form and that includes having to deal with archaic things in the game like not having a party finder. I know Blizzard is a “w o k e” company now, did they include the incubus in WoW classic for that reason?

Yes, they added this as part of a sweeping PR initiative that took place after they got busted for workplace harassment.

Originally, vanilla WoW did NOT have an incubus. It was only the succubus. The incubus is a recent addition to the game that Blizzard added to Classic as well as other versions of the game.

You will have to ask them why they thought it wise to include in Classic, even though it wasn’t part of the original game. Note that they also changed other things, like certain items referencing people, films, etc. My opinion: they are taking what they consider to be the safe road, avoiding getting called out for things that someone could perceive to be socially less desirable in 2023. Whether any of us, or they privately, agree is a completely separate topic.

it didn’t.

It’s exactly for this reason that they did it.

The idea of the Incubus was something they planned during Cataclysm, but decided to scrap the idea, or put it on hold at the least.

It’s funny. They get discovered treating their employees like garbage, particularly the female work force, and somehow think it will make them look better by adding an even more sexualized male version of a sex demon.

No but, really, who cares?

After a woman committed suicide at Blizzard Entertainment from workplace sexual harassment from frat-like male culture, they put a demon in their video game.
Thats basically who you give money to btw.
Blizzard was under investigation at the time so they did what most mature companies do and accept their beha…:cough: I mean they are having an employee exodus and are running for the hills as soon as their job application goes through I’m sure.
I bet the real people responsible for sharing the girls naked pictures are sitting at a nice management position somewhere since no one in the united states can be held responsible for crimes once their money reaches a certain point.
The government gave them a tap on the hand as far as financial penalties. Nothing else happened. OH They might infect microsoft even worse off than it already is…

I use the incubus in pvp to annoy people

Nothing humiliates people more than being seduced by some twink demon boy and then getting soulfired.

This, tbh.

I’m glad he’s included in Classic, though my only real ‘complaint’ is he is way too high poly for Classic - I guess just plopping the retail version in was easier than rendering a low poly model, but it’s still a little funny.

Either way, happy that I can have my favorite demon in either version of WoW.

no, the incubus is an abomination that somehow snuck its way from retail onto classic :expressionless:

you of all people saying this, that’s rich :expressionless:

Ewww, don’t care where you affiliate yourself, that brew is just nasty.
The incubus is fugly, will not use.
