I still love this game with flying, I put up with it until flying comes along. One thing that helped me endure the non-flying part is the flight master’s whistle. So why did they take that out? Do they really feel it’s necessary to shove their stupid terrain navigation BS down our throats? News flash…now I just hearth and refly out to the area I was questing in. Gives me plenty of time to look into what other games I could be playing. The worst part is this was an intentional decision, not a programming blunder which are so common in the game these days. This type of decision shows a degree of user hostility that I haven’t seen in WoW before. I’d suggest to Activision that some personnel changes are needed at Blizzard before the pandemic ends and many of us find better stuff to do.
It really is a head scratcher.
Engineering makes life easier.
15 CD on the SL wormhole.
after you get your questing done you can port back to oribos and fly out from there to wherever. Saves on travel time.
Part of me believes for some reason they are trying to sabotage the game because they are tired of working on it. But they can’t just close the game without a massive problem due to how many people still enjoy it.
edit- I know I know, I need to take off the tinfoil hat.
Blizzard has yet to meet a baby they haven’t throw out with the bathwater.
Less work for the same money.
No idea, but i enjoyed the flight master whistle.
Also enjoyed boa items to send to alts to learn fps
I use my dalaran hearthstone, then from Dalaran port to Org then to Oribos. Then fly from there.
It sounds like alot but its ALOT faster than using the 5 min flights and it doesn’t burn my normal hearthstone cooldown.
flying was great.
it actually made the game BETTER!
got the hint yet while spying through these posts blizz?
Gotta buff those playtime metrics or the shareholders will be frowny.
Seriously, we need a development team that respects our time.
Let’s just say that I can’t wait for flying so I can actually see some of these zones (especially Revendreth which has like 20 different layers/heights of terrain).
I hearth a lot, like others have said they do. I hearthed to Oribos yesterday while I was in the Maw so I could turn in my quests faster. I base a lot of my WQs off of how close they are to a FP or how easy it is to reach the WQ.
I don’t mind beautiful and complex zones, but holy cow are they annoying to navigate. At least the Flight Whistle helped against that frustration.
It’s just a way to make you spend more time and feel like you actually playing the game. Because of this most part of the quests are far away from the flying point, you don’t have flying points on the DG entrances or raids. Every time you wanna change the map it makes a huge journey with a lot of curves and you have time to make some coffee between world quests.
I’m not sure why they think it makes play more, actually, it makes me play a lot less because I have no motivation to hunt rares, chests, and farm anything with the entire map on my back hitting me every single step reducing my speed 50%.
As soon as I get the AOTC I’m out until the next patch and that’s why I don’t buy any 6-month subscription.
This is the main reason I stuck with my mage over hunter this expansion, teleports are a god-send.
i’m fine with not flying on day one, but honestly i do this too in some parts of Revendreth and Maldraxxus. it’s often faster, or at least less annoying.
I guess we’ll have to wait longer for the world of Warcraft flight simulator…
meanwhile I guess I’m stuck playing this RPG.
The game was better without flying. I said it. It was an actual RPG and venturing out into the world was dangerous. They need to remove all meeting stones and flying permanently and force people to potentially be ganked on their way to the instance. They also need to give people more incentive to farm materials from mobs. All of that stuff was half the fun of the endgame in classic. As soon as they added flying, meeting stones, remote queuing, etc., the world became trivial and unimportant after you hit level cap.
With that being said, leveling in classic was a horrific nightmare for all these same reasons.
A-B is trying to build customer engagement. Obviously, spending lots of time running around on foot is a great way to build customer engagement.
Right???
This guy is a genius and you should all listen to him. This is an RPG. Get over it or play something else like LoL.
Yea, that is right. If there are no meeting stones and there is no flying, and there is an actual reason to be out in the world, and you’re playing with PvP active as the game was always supposed to be played, the game is way more fun because venturing out into the world is actually challenging, and therefore more rewarding.
We don’t have all of that, so it may just be a chore at this point in the game since you can just turn off PvP and since professions aren’t’ useful so no real reason to be out in the world farming, and since we have dungeon meeting stones. They need to lose flying permanently and all this other stuff too.
There are better games for world PVP.
