I’ve been wanting to start and play through the Shadowlands intro questline for the very first time, but a week or two ago, many people were saying that it was broken somehow. So, I didn’t want to attempt to start it and get a character stuck in some limbo state without any further quests available.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet? Does the problem only occur on characters over 70 or if someone chooses to skip the Maw intro on a second playthrough? Does it work properly if you access SL through Chromie Time and play straight through the Maw part? Advice would be appreciated.
Haven’t checked today but as of yesterday no its still bugged, been trying to start it on my pally for awhile now, but starting a new toon with timewalking should work, i think its just if you go in after 70, but im only like 80% sure

I tried two days ago and it was still bugged.
Had no idea there was an issue until I looked it up.

Thanks for the update. Like I said, I’d try it out myself to see if it’s working, but I don’t want to get a character stuck in a bad game state.

Ya its really frustrating because i wanna go after vengeance but all but a few of my characters are bugged and cant enter the maw lol

I recall (on my Horde hunter “Jadepoptart” getting stuck on the “Insider Trading” quest where I could not see Ba nor Zo. I also recall seeking answers from Google, Wowhead, Reddit and YouTube, and I distinctly recall finding out that I was NOT alone in my search for answers. It was, and remains, a quirky bug. that requires a lot of hoop-jumping.
I will say that I dug deep, and tried many things (even reached out to Blizz Support with no help whatsoever), and I think it took a couple of weeks of not giving up until I did find a resolution. I know that it was not obvious, nor an easy remedy, but that I did figure out how to make it work.
I’ve looked back at my Wowhead responses (because I usually document a tough issue like this) but I’m sorry I cannot find how I fixed it. I think I tried to talk to Mograine (horde) but can’t recall if that was the fix. I know I ran A LOT of quests through Bastion, but I can’t recall if that was part of the fix. I can say one thing for sure…the fix is NOT obvious, and you are not alone in this issue!
Don’t give up, and if you figure it out, you’ll have to document it better than I did! Good luck.

I might just experiment with it on alts I don’t intend to play through SL with in case they all get stuck in bad states. Maybe, the anniversary event will open up a portal to Maldraxus so I can grab that last crate I’m missing. I got the Ardenweald one that way.

What you suggested is worth a try.
I’m racking my brain (and search skills) trying to find some sort of comment I may have made when I had this issue. I can’t believe I didn’t note what worked for me somewhere! Ugh!
I found my help ticket with Blizz from a year ago. I had some back and forth with them (they claimed there were NO issues logged with this, lol). When I found a fix, I responded back to Blizz with my fix. I had to turn off my add-on’s at some point, and that’s what worked. I found that fix in my long search for answers. Here’s what I wrote back to Blizz in my 3rd help ticket response (and I hope this helps!!!):
“Nevermind - I am good now on this Jadepoptart toon. I tried everything I could think of. I ended up logging off all toons, selecting Addons from main menu, turned off ALL addons, logged back in, and was able to pick up the quest line. It didn’t start in the usual place, and some things looked odd (for instance, I still had visibility to the Org portal even though the questline now said to create “open” the Org portal, so it was still a bit buggy) but I was able to pick up the quest line thus far, so I believe I’m good now. I tried so many things, so I’m not 100% it was only the Addons that triggered the fix, but at least I got a fix. Thank you.”

Thanks, I have the opening quest in my quest log already since it was auto-granted to me way back in the day. I’ve just never tried playing through it since I was still on BFA and took a break from the game at the time.
